The main building is magnificent and a must see while touring downtown Cleveland. The view from the "Chess" room is awesome! The "Chess" room itself is like a museum and a must see. Each floor and room will be a delight for those who love history and books!

2 huge, well organized, beautiful buildings house the downtown library. Check out the funny sculptures in the garden area and be sure and visit the map room in the new building. Love the murals in the 1925 building also. If you like libraries, this is a must!

We were here on June 23. There are two wings. The new wing is in a modern style the old wing in in a Renaissance style with some murals. Between the two wings is a garden to reflect.

I was walking around downtown and saw this and thought why not. I went in and asked the host type person what i should check out in the library while im here and she told me they have the smallest book in the world. That alone was amazing. Its worth it just to check that out. They also have a... More

So often we miss the gems in our own backyard. The Cleveland Public Library is one such place. Took my mother, as she wanted to see it, I was only mildly interested. I came away with a new found admiration for our city and its history.

Even if going to a library is not in your plans - please visit this gem in Downtown Cleveland. Look up and marvel at the ceilings, check out each floor's design - just amazing. And pay attention to the collection they have - and not of just books, but maps, artifacts, technology offerings - it's worth a stop.

After you've perused the huge available for check-out collection, or researched your genealogy, go out onto the patio with your lunch (lots of places to get something to go are in the area) and enjoy a relaxing venue. And don't miss the great old architecture!

Every time I wanted a book, I could get it at Cleveland Public Library. I often had to use their computers over the years. I'm not sure how they will be able to keep their doors open though, considering the internet is a library unto itself. They may need to re-invent themselves to keep up with modern ways. I don't...
