A botanical gem. Trees and shrubs are labeled with names. The Garfield. Monument is a gem. Don't miss the Tiffany glass chapel, the monument to the teachers and students who lost their lives in a school fire that is the reason we have doors that open out, and the many monuments to famous people of Cleveland. Allow at least 1.5... More

The metroparks are a great place to come and relax or exercise. There are tons of amenities such as chalets, picnic areas, scenic overlooks. I must confess that I do not use these but I do bike ride regularly on the walking/bike trails, which are well maintained in the area that I ride, which is the North Royalton to Berea... More

Great resource to the city. So many facilities from winter tobogganing, runs along the River, to inexpensive family golf days. We just like to do a drive when the leaves turn. Great way to get around certain parts of city so easy to fit in somewhere on a visit to cleveland

If you never had the pleasurable experience to ride, walk or picnic in one or more of the places along this magnificent tribute to preserving the natural beauty, you need to do so at your next opportunity. We were fortunate that one of our sons lived in the house that much of the credit goes to the creating and preservation... More

The Emerald Necklace is not one place, it is dozens or perhaps hundreds of park areas, all connected to each other, just like, yes, a necklace of emeralds. As a child, a favorite of mine was Squire's Castle, with a real-life old "castle" you can explore and play in. (Caution: it's really only a few rooms in size: just right... More

The Emerald Necklace is a series of parks that form a "necklace" around Cuyahoga County, starting at Lake Erie, continuing south and encircling the county. It is an incredible green space with amazing outdoor opportunities for picnics, biking, fishing, hiking, relaxing, golfing, horseback riding, etc. It is a real Cuyahoga County treasure!

The Emerald Necklace refers to the necklace shaped of parks and recreation opportunities that surround Cleveland from East to West. We frequent many of them at various times throughout the year. We especially love Squaw Rock near Chagrin Falls.
