For a small zoo I have seen worse, and a zoo is still more fun than no zoo but it appears the upkeep is very poorly managed. Too bad the city doesn't help this zoo out from looking like a forgotten Noah's ark. Pros: Ample free parking Gibbon exhibit Free roaming peacocks Grizzly exhibit Small enough to get through with... A great variety of animals. Beautiful landscape along the river with manicured grounds and well informed staff. Zoo is in Chahinkapa Park and close to fishing, golf, water slide, swimming pool, playground and restaurant. Camping is available. Come ride the carousel, have a picnic or watch a ball game! A real family spot!

we are regulars at the zoo during the summertime and early fall. the children love to see the animals. we usually go see santa when he comes as well. they also love the carousel. the bathrooms in the zoo could be cleaner, we make sure we go before leaving the house.

We visit the zoo a few times every summer. It is better than many zoos in larger cities. It is beautiful and clean and has a wide variety of animals. It also has many interperative learning stations. The zoo staff go out of their way to make your visit memorable. The zoo is impressive and a must see.

I took my 4 small children here on a trip sponsored by a organization in our community. The was a nice little variety of animals, including a few my kids hadn't seen before. The paths were all in great shape and I had no problem pushing my double stroller through the zoo. Not the biggest zoo out there, but it... More

My grandkids, two of my daughters and I took in the zoo fun at Chahinkapa, last weekend! The zoo is clean, nicely organized and the array of animals to observe is wide! We get down to the this zoo, from Fargo, once every summer. I highly recommend this for a great day of fun for the family! Take a picnic... More

I prefer this zoo as I have small children. You have close access to all the animals and can feed a lot of them too.

I've talked to many people that come down to Wahpeton to take in the Zoo and park with their kids. It has competition with the Fargo zoo, but I think they're both worth taking in.
