Very nice drive

Lots of farmland and pastures. We saw a lot of hawks, horses, cattle, wild turkeys, garter snake, etc. Some dirt roads, but well maintained.

I must admit two things: I only did the 16 miles above Valley City and it was starting to rain. A GPS in North Dakota is an iffy thing. My Garmin found cities, even small ones, pretty good but ask for an address, and it was lost even in Bismarck. First, if you have no intention of driving this entire... More

This drive was recommended to us and we had the time, so we headed out to see what we could see. We came across an old schoolhouse initially. The 1st town was Katy I believe. (This is from a week ago and my memory lacks at times.) Katy was cute and I got some good pictures. We saw a family... More

This Byway was recommended by the Visitor's Center. Quite by accident we had already been on part of it. We had gone north and coming back into Valley City you come down a hill and have a great view of the High-line railway bridge! We didn't go the whole way south but we went to a lake area. It was... Beautiful drive in the southeastern part of North Dakota, filled with hills, trees, and quaint little towns. Dotted along the route are stopping points with information on the area. I went in the spring, but I imagine it's even more beautiful in the fall when the leaves are changing. Some parts of the byway are gravel roads, others are paved.

I live on the byway and what a beautiful drive it is. Many winding roads through the Sheyenne River Valley. You will find many places to stop and take in the scenery and various small towns will allow you access to interesting dining experiences along your journey.

Lovely scenery and a very nice drive. We may return in fall when teh leaves are changing and it would be spectacular.

We left Valley City around 430 pm to drive this road. It was a beautiful septmeber evening and the sky was blue which made it even prettier. The road is an easy drive with gentle rolling hills and valleys. About a mile N of the small town of Katheryn on the top of the hill on the east side there... More

I real treat. My husband who is from Georgia/Florida area was amazed to see hills in the Dakotas. I think that was as far west as he had been until now, and he was so pleased with this trip! Beautiful rolling hills and sunset views.
