Owner description: We offer small group live aboard expeditions to view and dive with great white sharks. Rodney and Andrew Fox have worked with great white sharks for over 45 years. This all started of course, with Rodneys miraculous survival following a shark attack in the early 1960's. These days, it is Andrew Fox, Rodney's son, who runs the expeditions and Andrews passion, understanding and hands on experience with great white sharks is quite unprecedented worldwide. Each expedition is not just an adrenalin rush like no other, we will introduce you to the sharks that you see. We know, name them and profile them through our Fox Shark Research Foundation. This exists 'to inspire the appreciation and understanding of great white sharks through research and education' and before you know it you will be helping us identify the sharks on your dives! Our trips are not just all about sharks however, and we will always look to snorkel or dive with the extremely cute and photogenic Australian sea lions and take a tour around the beautiful Neptune Islands in our tender boat to visit the New Zealand fur seals that live there. Life at the Neptune Islands is explained in our onboard great white shark biology and research talks as is the seasonal changes and seal breeding patterns that occur there. Our expeditions only run when there is a good chance of seeing great white sharks who are seasonal visitors to the area. We also understand that it is unrealistic to expect great white sharks to appear as soon as we turn up, so with our slightly longer trips, although we can never guarantee the sharks, we do have a very good and very high success rate. Due to our responsible operator history we also have a ministerial exemption to use berley to attract great white sharks to our boat, which is absolutely essential for successful great white shark viewing. Our small guest numbers on-board (max 12) allow lots of cage time and so long as all guests are getting a fair and equal look at the sharks, you can just stay in there! No dive experience is needed for our surface cage diving and our dive master crew will give you a briefing on how to breathe underwater if you have not done this before. For qualified divers, our world exclusive ocean floor cage diving is quite addictive, here we take you to the floor of the Southern Ocean to see great white sharks truly in their domain with a huge array of other fish life including huge smooth rays, eagle rays and blue gropers! Accommodation onboard includes a large comfortable saloon and 6 twin/double en-suite cabins and enjoying a night of star gazing with a glass of local wine after a beautiful sunset is the perfect way to relax after a thrilling day! We also offer special rates for surface cage diving or topsider viewing only can help you learn to dive! Please email us if you have any other questions about our expeditions and we look forward to hearing from you and hopefully seeing you out with us and becoming part of the Fox Shark family.

I did the Rodney Fox 3 night Great White Shark Expedition to the Neptune Islands costing $1995, which I booked in 3 days prior to the trip commencing, though many trips are fully booked out in advance. Despite the fact that I was chronically seasick for the first 48 hours, I was eventually able to overcome this with a strategic... More

I, my sister and mother recently experienced two of the most magical days ever. We booked the two night’s surface cage dive over the days of the 4th to 6th November 2014. We cannot thank the Crew of the Rodney Fox Shark Experience enough for their hospitality, knowledge and most of all their passion for these astonishing creatures of the... More

A few years back my partner and I spent three unforgettable days aboard the Princess II with Rodney Fox Great White Shark Expeditions and the awesome Andrew Fox. Words can't even begin to describe the feeling of being up close and very personal with great white sharks (sometimes up to five at a time!), especially 20 metres down in the... More

The chance to see great white sharks has always been on my "bucket list". My wife and I are from Canada and we made sure that our trip to Australia included great white shark viewing. We are extremely happy that we decided to spend the extra money for a live aboard boat. Our thought had been to maximize the chances... More

Did the expedition with my Dad. People say bucket list experience. THEY ARE RIGHT. Firstly, its an expedition to get there, you are on the edge of the Southern Ocean, the outback of the seas. The ship is luxury really, well appointed, comfortable, the crew are friendly and the fellow travelers on our trip were great fun. Plenty of great... More

Took a 4 night expedition on the Princess II with an incredible crew. The food on board was plentiful and tasty. The cabins were clean with enough storage and space for the time we were aboard. The staff were knowledgeable about all aspects of the sharks and their behaviours. The shark presentation was interesting and informative. I enjoyed this trip... More
