I went to the McLaren Vale with a few friends to visit some wineries. It was our first time to the McLaren Vale and I was particularly excited about visiting Penny's Hill. Penny's Hill cellar door sells for a few different wine labels (I think it is three different labels, but I not 100% sure) and one of these labels... More

The waitress mistook our order for bread and brought olives as well which we sent back. The order for the main course also was incorrect where we got a dish not ordered and the correct dish took some time to arrive at the table. Not only was the restaurant pricey for the meals ( $36.00 for a main with vegetables... More

This farm is one of the lesser known wineries (to me) of this great Australian wine region. However I'd give full marks to the decor, layout and ambience of thw venue. The farm is picturesque and all in all nakes ut a very pleasant place to be.

The cellar door is in a picturesque spot, and the tasting room is nice, with a restaurant attached. However as we turned up a tour bus arrived and it was so crowded we didn't bother staying.

We stopped in here whilst in Mclaren Vale. The cellar door is spacious, but unfortunately there were several large groups there at the same time as us. Despite this, the staff remained friendly and were running around trying to accommodate everyone. The wine was pretty good, quite varied and lots to try. Overall, a good place to try out but... It was (late) lunchtime, we saw that this cellar door had a restaurant, we went in. The menu was modern, fresh and reasonably priced. Each dish had a suggested wine (from their own collection as you would expect), but the waiter suggested that we first try some wines at the tasting bar. We did, and the wines we chose for... More

After getting lost and having found the location for the winery that is on Google Maps - we stopped into the tourist info centre and grabbed a map with the correct location on it! It was well worth finding and we would go back again and again. We missed lunch time but we were accommodated by the kitchen and had... More

A great location catering for 50 people for a 60 th birthday celebration. With the family of 12 staying on the property and only a 5 minute walk to the restaurant and everyone else a short taxi drive the location proved excellent. The menu was exciting and different and the food chosen delicious, I had a slow cooked pig's cheek... More

The Jaguar Drivers Club of SA and the Triumph Stag Owners Club attended Penny's Hill/The Kitchen Door as part of the McLaren Vale Vintage and Classic event held on 28 April 2013. An outdoor catered lunch was provided for members in an idyllic setting with tables with tablecloths, real cutlery and plates being an added attraction. A gourmet BBQ and... More

We spent a couple of fantastic hours at Penny's Hill on a recent Monday lunchtime wine tasting and savoring the delights of fantastic food. It was really great to be able to sit and do wine tasting from the entire Penny's Hill, Mr Riggs and Black Chook wine range whilst devouring a chefs grazing platter. There was no rush, with... More
