Nice beach. Very relaxed with poor service and lack of facilities as a result. We had to ask a couple of times if various things were actually still trading, some places looked abandoned. We did see a Cassowary in the wild which was probably the highlight of our time in the area.

It has retained its aura of being a beautiful untouched pristine beach, that happens to have a small community beside it. So relaxing. It is a good jumping off base... More

MIssion Beach is a beautiful natural area but is under developed and the little North Mission township is run down and under utilised.Castaways resort is the main draw card to the area and is an absolute rip off.

If you're keen to avoid the commercial nature of bigger Far North Qld destinations, then head south of Cairns to Mission Beach. This small, relaxed seaside town has an amazing vibe, great eateries and excellent accommodation options. We stayed at Castaways. It also has access to The Great Barrier Reef, day trips to explore Dunk Island (recommended on a lazy... More

This is a small community with a small town. Very friendly people. Beach is lovely. Too cold to swim while we were there. Weather a bit blowy. Couldn't go to Dunk Island because of the swells. Nice place to relax and spend a few days. Didn't find anywhere spectacular to eat but plenty of choices.
