This is a quick tour up the Barron River but well worthwhile, with lots of rainforest ecology info provided by host Brian who presents it in an interesting, funny, conversational manner - not at all a lecture but really informative. And of course, you can ignore all that and just enjoy seeing the rainforest from the water and see if... More

Found Kuranda a little too touristy so didn't have a huge expectation here. But we saw more animal life and heard more interesting stories than the gondola and train journey put together. The guide, Steve was very personable and even went to the trouble of reassuring and coaxing our teenager, who was convinced she would be crocodile meat, onto the... More

Kuranda is a great place to visit, made even better by the river cruise. Travelling on a small boat we ambled along the river looking for crocs and turtles. We were slightly wary as we embarked as there were some noisy children and thought this might reduce our chances of seeing wildlife. Our guide managed the situation well and the... More

This boat ride was the highlight of my day at Kuranda. The river and wildlife were amazing. The guide was extremely knowledgeable about the area and just made the trip. I cannot recommend this activity enough!

We took the last boat cruise of the day and it was worth the walk to the boat launch. The guide was exceptional. He had so many stories about the history of the area, the animals, the forest and the people. I highly recommend this cruise that last about 45 minutes

A bit annoyed by the commercial aspect of the village, we decided to go for this 45min-cruise. This was the best idea we had: the guide is very friendly and gives very informative comments on the way. We saw three crocodiles, a few turtles, some hungry fishes (the guide gives some bread so that we can feed them, this is... More

This was by far the best river cruise that we went on during our trip in Cairns. We went on the 6/12/2014. DJ, the boat captain, was so knowledgeable and clearly loves his job. He had lots of interesting factoids about the river and surrounding forest and had us in stitches with some of his jokes. Absolutely zero regrets about... More

I've been to Kuranda several times and always found it very toursity and ever so slightly naff with all the souvenir shops and markets. However, this trip along the river allows you to see a whole other side to it. It's only a short trip (about 45 minutes) and its very reasonably priced so definitely worth doing if you prefer... Took the boat tour during a day trip up to Kuranda. Very knowledgeable and informative Captain guide. He was funny without being creepy with the innuendo jokes. If you take a lot of tours some guides can make kind of sexual jokes that are a bit uncomfortable for a cheap laugh. Well don't worry he is family friendly! You get... More
