This was by far the best river cruise that we went on during our trip in Cairns. We went on the 6/12/2014. DJ, the boat captain, was so knowledgeable and clearly loves his job. He had lots of interesting factoids about the river and surrounding forest and had us in stitches with some of his jokes. Absolutely zero regrets about... More

I've been to Kuranda several times and always found it very toursity and ever so slightly naff with all the souvenir shops and markets. However, this trip along the river allows you to see a whole other side to it. It's only a short trip (about 45 minutes) and its very reasonably priced so definitely worth doing if you prefer... Took the boat tour during a day trip up to Kuranda. Very knowledgeable and informative Captain guide. He was funny without being creepy with the innuendo jokes. If you take a lot of tours some guides can make kind of sexual jokes that are a bit uncomfortable for a cheap laugh. Well don't worry he is family friendly! You get... More

Us usually reserved Brits were "wowed" by the experience! Captain DJ gave us a wonderful insight into the river, its inhabitants and the rainforest. Good value and definitely worth it. We came away feeling relaxed and better informed thanks to our skipper whose dont argue humour we also enjoyed.

The cruise takes approximately 45 minutes and is a good way to see the Barron River and hear about the local history. Our guide was very knowledgable and told us various interesting facts about the river, rain forrest and local area. We got to see some fresh water crocodiles, feed the fish and turtles and enjoyed the peaceful cruise along... More

We did this tour as a last-minute excursion, but we really enjoyed it. We found ourselves with time to kill in Kuranda (already saw the koalas and birds), so we decided to take a relaxing cruise down the river. The captain DJ has a very dry sense of humor, but has a low of knowledge to share about the river... More

We decided to check out the river and take a chance on seeing crocs and turtles, and we were not disappointed. We saw a croc sun-baking, multiple turtles of various sizes and tons of fish. The views from the boat of the flora and fauna were beautiful and the captains knowledge of the area is amazing. We haven't had a... More

We had a great experience on the river boat with amazing sightings of the animals native to the river and the guide shared his extensive floria knowledge which made us realise how unique this area of rain forest is. Great value for money and a very enjoyable and relaxing experience. A must do.

This has to be the best part of the day trip to Kuranda. Worth every cent of the $18 DJ the boats captain and guide is extremely passionate about the river and rainforest. He fills you with some fantastic facts while travelling along the river. We stopped while he fed fish and turtles, allowing us to freely move around the... More

Loved this boat ride, the guide was a down to earth Aussie, with a terrific dry sense of humour. We saw crocs, turtles, fish and were accompanied by swallows that were nesting on the roof of the boat. Well worth $18 per person
