This park is now closed and the animals are being given new homes elsewhere which is a shame. The lions were spectacular.

Its true you get to hug the Koala. apart from that its a waste of time. You can see the other things on any other zoos around the country.

Ok so this place is an amazing experience that you truly can not get anywhere else in Australia let alone other parts of the world. I want to firstly highly recommend it if you are in Cairns or FNQ... go see the Great Barrier Reef but make this your second priority for sure. Some of the bad reviewers have said... More

We understood this was a safari type zoo. I was looking forward to spotting the animals. Some cages were very large and we embarrassingly spent time searching for the animals the signs suggested were within to only notice the gate open on the oversized grassed area. We were able to spot lions from about 100 meters and the head of... More

I took the family to Kuranda for the day and visited the wildlife park. The army duck tour was reasonably priced for the family and the children had a lot of fun. I found that the meal was expensive . Apart from that it was an enjoyable day.

We booked for Breakfast with the Beasts and glad we had. Being able to see the lions up close while they were eating was great. They gave out a few roars which made everyone jump. The lady at reception was not friendly or welcoming in anyway. She was flustered with only 6 people in the office, I would hate to... More

Cairns Wildlife Safari Reserve, aka Shambala Animal Kingdom. When we arrived the receptionist was on the phone discussing the possible sale of the establishment and left us waiting for over 15mins; we just walked in and came back to pay later. The zoo was not well maintained (obviously understaffed) with a lack of shade being noticeable as we spent hours... More

This is a great little Zoo about 40 minutes from Cairns. If you want to hear the staff talk about all the animals you will need the whole day. But you can see everything in about 1/2 the day if you just like looking at the animals. They do a talk on each animal about every 1/2 hour.

This Janurary my partner and I visited the worst zoo we've ever seen - Cairns Wildlife Safari Reserve, aka Shambala Animal Kingdom. I'm listing both of those names just in case anyone is confused when they see the faded signs with the old trading name. Here are a few bullet points to list clearly my disappointment on visiting: - on... More

When doing a bit of research on what to do in the cairns area we came across this little place that looked quite good on their website and brochure, so we thought we'd give it a try. We were excited as it is the only real safari in the area but what a disappointment right from the start. We arrived... More
