I suggest going to the train station and buy a single train ticket to Kuranda. Please remember trains leave at 830 and 930 am from Cairns. To get to the train station you need to go through Cairns Shopping centre and the car park. When I was travelling they were doing a buy one get on free option, which saved... More

Quaint Aborigine village, with lots of arts and crafts, a short distance from Cairns. The village seems to be open from 10am - 4pm so plan accordingly

If you're looking for something to do, fill in your day with a visit to the Kuranda skyrail and train trip. The stops aren't anything too exciting, but worth doing. Kuranda itself is a little boring - full of dinky little markets and shops but mostly selling Chinese made junk. The best is the Cellar Door of Golden Drop. Friendly... More

My wife and I did the Kuranda scenic rail trip to Kuranda Village and returned by the cable car. The scenic train trip was superb. A lovely train journey of some 90 minutes commencing from a very quant old style train station in Cairns, stopping once on the way up in very comfortable coaches. The attendants are so kind and... My partner and I did not have a car in Port Douglas so we loved the idea of being able to go on a half day tour then throw ourselves back in the pool at the resort for the remainder of the day. Glenn is a real treat. Funny guy and very knowledgeable. He really made the tour great. I... More

My family of five took the return trip on the sky rail which cost us a total of $308. That is a lot of hard earned when I could have seen it all (with the exception of some unique canopy and Barron falls views) with the comfort of our hire car for the cost of the petrol (approx $8). Taking... More

For two grey nomads, to be picked up at our hotel at Trinity Beach and taken around Cairns to see the sights, taste the coffee etc was an absolute delight. Cairns botanical garden tops my list. For those that find it hard getting around this trip is a must. Lovely people on the bus from all places, and the driver... More

We headed to karunda on the sky rail and cam back on the train. The sky rail gives you a nice view of the forest on the way up and st at a few place where you can venture out on a boardwalk to get amongst the trees a bit more. It takes a while and you are quite high... More
