We have been conducting tours on the Daintree River since 1987 and run a family operated, one hour river tour from a private jetty. Our boats are small and personalised for a quality experience and our tours focus on wildlife such as snakes and birds, with an emphasis on crocodile spotting. The tour includes commentary about the area and the mangrove ecosystem. We also provide good quality binoculars and complimentary hot and cold beverages.

Bruce knows the Daintree so well that I'm sure if anyone can spot a croc, he can. On our cruise we saw 2 small ones - it was nesting season so the females are still on their nests and hidden from view. Bruce also pointed out a beautiful little tree frog which we would have otherwise missed. He gave an... More

Bruce was so friendly and very knowledgable, definitely book a cruise with him! We saw a female croc guarding her nest and a two year old croc, plus many birds and wildlife, it was a lovely cruise down the river too.

We took the lunchtime cruise (the pie & drink deal sold it for us, makes it better value for money), unfortunately we picked the worst day lol quite high tide, hot weather & breeding season so no croc in site despite one being seen in the tour before, not the companies fault, the guide did everything he could to try... Went on the 12pm tour. Wanted to see crocs in their natural environment instead of the captive ones you can easily see at zoos/other places. Of course it is a risk because who can control wild animals, we Managed to see a female from a distant in the shrubs which was not that visible and a baby one.Our guide Bruce... More

Having read one of the previous reviews I was a little bit apprehensive of going on this tour. Afterwards I was very glad that I didn't choose a different operator. Bruce was very approachable and had extensive knowledge of the river and area; while the weather was a bit on the wet side it didn't spoil our tour. The fauna... More

Bruce obviously knows what he's doing. You will definitely see a croc, but Bruce's real strength is in birdlife, which is really amazing. The shop is really nice as well and you can enjoy your included coffee (or meal) there or buy a nice souvenier (they were really quite cheap). Great value for the price.

We really enjoyed this trip!! Our family of two teenagers and two adults. We we looking to see crocs in the wild and that's exactly what we did. There was no better way to do it then to travel down the Daintree river in a very comfy boat spotting crocs. We had a great experience. The boat was perfect, incredibly... More

Reviewed in isolation and on a very good day you may go. Compared to other options and / or on a not so good day, not a snow flakes chance in hell you would go. Why wouldn't you go; - Its further from both PD and Cairns than better options - Likely you will see very few croc's - we... More

Dear……No No No PLEASE read this before you go Due to the severity of your criticism of our Daintree River tour it seems that you chose the wrong activity. You emphasised that guests would be best advised to visit Hartley’s Crocodile Adventures and that we did nothing to encourage crocs to come out (I assume you meant feeding them). The... More

Best thing about the day was the pies and sausage rolls provided, they were quality. Unfortunately they couldn't find a croc or anything else to save themselves! Spent hours searching for nothing, not as reliable as they say they are...

As the Daintree River is a Conservation Park we are not permitted to feed crocodiles nor encourage them in anyway. As the water temperature is 30 degrees during summer, the crocs spend more time in the water and can be difficult to see on a few occasions. The peak season for croc spotting is in winter when the water temperature... More

We were on our way back from the Cape Trib area and had a few spare hours late one afternoon. Did a little checking and found that Belchers had their last tour of the day going out at 4pm. We were warmly greeted by Bruce’s daughter and provided some refreshments before the tour began. Two other couples joined our group... More
