On these magical tours, Aboriginal Elder, Willie Gordon, takes guests to his ancestral rock art, high in the hills above Cooktown. Here he shares the meanings behind the art, explaining how the paintings speak of the essence of life and the lores of his people. With his great smile and infectious laugh, Willie gives an amazing insight into Aboriginal society and shows how we all have a spiritual connection to land, wherever we come from.

I cannot recommend the Rock Art Tour more. Willie is a fascinating man and is very inspiring. He provides a great insight to Aboriginal life past and present. He invites you to explore and understand aboriginal life and its interaction with the Australian landscape whilst relating this to your own life and personal experiences. I would recommend this tour to... More

When we first met, Willie asked us to listen to the birds. What do you hear? What does that mean? From that point on for the next four hours he pointed out details we would have missed such as a wallaby tail mark in the dust, passed on stories of the area and offered us the opportunity to reflect on... My family (husband and two daughters) had the great pleasure of joining Willie on his Rainbow Serpent tour and had a fantastic experience. Willie was a great teacher and entertainer and we were so lucky to have had this experience. Willie provided great information about his own life and aborginal heritage and customs, as well as snakcs and drinks. The... More

I recently travelled to Cooktown with my 1 year old and 4 year old, to show my Mum some sights of FNQ. We were very lucky to be able to book a place on the last Rain Serpent Tour for the year. As we had the children we self drove to the location. It was a stunning drive and very... More

Four of us had the pleasure to join Willie on the Rainbow Serpent Tour and were blown away. We stayed at the Endeavour Falls Tourist Park (and loved it) and travelled up the road to join Willie. The tour was much more than just a rock art experience. Willie's love of the region, his culture, history and extensive knowledge make... More

Definitely agree with all other comments. A most insightful, generous and amazing individual. The world would be a much better place with a few more Willie Gordons. Just to add to the other comments we took our three children (5,2 and 7 months old) on the tour and Willie more than accommodated for them with snacks, games, magic, activities and... More

We were trying to decide which Aboriginal Rock Art tour to take and went on this one with the charming Willie Gordon. It was a wonderful experience to see the Rock Art & hear the stories from Willie which put it all in context. The walk was a bit difficult in places and there was some climbing over rocks but... This tour was education, insightful, enjoyable and positive. The landscape is astoundingly beautiful when you arrive but that soon paled in comparison to the spirit of our guide. He was enthralling talking about his cultural heritage and family history and sharing his beliefs and reasons for sharing this with us. I felt so blessed to have had this experience. I... More

We were picked up from our Cooktown hotel by Willie Gordon, Nugal clan elder and story keeper and then collected a German family of 3 to make up a group of 5. As we drove out to the traditional birthing site of his clan, where Willie’s own father and grandfather had been born, he explained many things to us about... More
