A very tropical rain forested island north of Townsville known for a diverse ecology that enhances natural at her best. Great place for forest walks however caution is required. Spent overnight in a creek bed one night after searching for the historical wartime liberator known to have crashed on the high peaks.

This is like a lost world, with a world famous Thorsbourne Walking Track - 3 days will see you walk the 50km from one end of the island to the other. You will see pristine waterfalls, deserted beaches and picture perfect vistas. This island is uninhabited by people, but has an abundance of wildlife. If you are lucky you might... More

Visited and viewed many times. From from the Cardwell Gap, Hinchinbrook Island forms a dramatic vista, with it sharply defined spine and weather being formed over its northern peaks by SE winds, pushing the air up into cloud and down the western face as mist/cloud. The Hinchinbrook Passage is a rare passage wilderness, and a mangrove wilderness too, at low... More

AMAZING- you will not be disappointed. A must do if visiting FNQ for any length of time. The ferry's are way overpriced but it's a monopoly so you just have to pay, the cheap park fees make up for it. The cap on visitors is great- we saw people on the first day, after that it felt like we had... More

I heard that people come from all over the world for the walking tracks. I never done them myself, but I love the look outs and the new holiday village. Great restaurant. Stop over for lunch or dinner every time.

I disliked nothing and found cardwell to be central to Cairns in the north 180kms and Townsville 180kms south to go visit was good for a getaway.

The scenic views are amazing. Limited visitation preserves the wilderness feel - hard to believe you are on Australia's East Coast. Memories that last a lifetime, quite literally!
