We were given a bit of advice prior to going into the cave by one of the ladies in the shop. They were lovely chatty and helpful. We have been on many tours including cavern tours and was really looking forward to this one. It was a small group with no children and we thought we would be able to... More

wow this is an incredible cavern where the original Blue John quartz came from. Not easy for people with mobility problems although like the other caverns there is limited access and the tourist centre is brilliant!

At 10 pound each the tour was great value for money. Informative and interesting . Boy does it make your legs ache walking up and down but worth it

This was interesting to me as my brother went here with the school years ago and kept on about it for weeks. So I had to go years later. It was ok, damp, lots of steps, but the guide was good and friendly. Not much to see in the way of the actual stone that it’s all about, and although... More

Finding the caverns was really easy, and from the moment you enter the site, you are under no illusion that you are going into a "working mine" It's over 200 steps till you reach the final stop underground, with three stops with tour guide talks along the way. At only a tender each for an hour, this isn't a bad... More

There are a few different caverns to visit in this area but I would recommend this place. Easy to find with free parking. There are different guides who do the tours and I do think your experience will depend on your guide.

One has to go to the Blue John caves if one is in Derbyshire, and it was worth the visit. Led by one of the Blue John miners, the tour was informative and quite interesting. I might have hesitated to take the tour had I known about the uneven 400 odd steps, but it was worth it. I do think... More

If you like walks and beautiful scenery and also places of interest then this is the place for you.We first went to Speedwell Cavern, very interesting as you travel by boat under ground while being educated about the history of the mine.We then moved on to Blue John Cavern which was just as interesting about all the history.Last but by no... We went down with a 3 year old a nine year old and a dog. All of whom loved going down deep into the cave and looking at all the interesting fossils and slimy Fluoride as well as the pretty blue john. The guide was very friendly and knowledgeable and we did not feel rushed at all. We were down... More
