Myself my wife and my 2 young daughters took a stroll along the river on Sunday 31st January in the pouring rain but had a grate time never the less.. My family all had a great time and we all loved splashing in the puddles. The stepping stones were a highlight for my girls who loved going from one side... More

I walked Dovedale with my children 5 and 7, I have done this walk in summer when it is very busy and in winter. There are enough views, caves, stepping stones and bridges to encourage them further.

We visited Dovedale as part of a mini-break - very few people about and very scenic. Easy walking - apart from the climb up Gypsy Bank to get to the pub in Alstonefield!

It was a cold windy and wet day yesterday, when we set off to Dovedale and unfortunately we didn't go well enough prepared for those conditions, so we didn't venture from the car when we got there. However, just the drive itself for the last few miles and the surrounding countryside, with winding turbulent river views, was enough to impress... More

Dovedale always offers lovely views, whether you're around Thorpe Cloud or walking along to the Stepping Stones. Great location for picnics in the summer, and a generally lovely place to walk all year round.

Beautiful calm place. Nature at its best. It can get busy at times- avoid weekends in the summer! My favourite place in the UK

Walked this route many many times and still one of our favourites. Cafes all shut but trusty pack up saves the day ! Due to rainfall the stepping stones and far side access flooded, also made tricky access up to stepping stones on the other side. Done this route lots of times and never seen the Dove as full or... Wonderful area, excellent to park at and walk to Milldale following the river Dove. The carpark is about £2.50 all day. Toilets, when it's warmer a hut serving food and drinks. 21/2 miles from here to Milldale, lovely walk, although can get tricky for smaller children. Lovely pasty's at Milldale for your effort!

Dovedale is one of my favourite places to visit the whole year round. There are plenty of routes to take, lots of wildlife and hundreds of stunning views. The car park is £2.50 for all day which isn't bad as you can stay as long as you wish. It can get very busy but its expected at such a lovely... More
