Marvellous attraction spoilt by irresponsible dog owners

This is a fantastic attraction, well publicised, and a superb all weather facility. There are clear notices requiring dogs to be on leads- but too many dog owners appear to think this does not apply to them, and loose dogs and little children do not go together on the narrow paths. Thank you to all those who did have their... More

Dovedale is just beautiful even on an overcast day that we were there. It is an easy walk alongside the babbling river with only a couple of climbs which have steps to help you. Always use the stepping stones to cross the river, makes you feel like a kid again. We walked about an hour and twenty minutes there and... More

We visited this one afternoon. There had been heavy rain and the river was in full spate. As we drove down the hill from Thorpe we were stunned by the views - we could have been in Scotland or North Wales! There is a free car park and then the rest of the valley has to be seen on foot.... More

Beautiful part of the world. Gorgeous drives, and lovely little villages. Plenty to see and enjoy without driving for hours.

We parked at Ilam and walked along the footpaths to Dovedale and the along the river to the stepping stones. It was a lovely walk and it was so nice to the livestock lambs & calves in abundance, do take the walk.

Great walking country with magnificent views. Good parking, well signposted walks, just loved it. Quaint villages, country pubs, ancient churches, go there!!!

I used to visit this place often my dad as a child and now 15 or so years later I have rediscovered its beauty. You can make it as long or short, as easy or as strenuous as you wish. The stepping stones are a highlight of mine as well as venturing up Thorpe cloud which can be a struggle... More

We started our walk some miles away from Dovedale and then joined the river and walked along the river bank crossing back and forth over several bridges over the absolutely stunning, gorgeous river, which winds through some amazing gorges, the sun was shining, we really could not have asked for a better day, stopping to take in the sights along... Stunning walk with picturesque views all along the river as well as beautiful scenery at the top of the hill. The drive down into Ilam itself also had amazing views of the countryside and the hall.
