Living just 15 minutes away we use Carsington Water quite a lot. My son sails at Carsington Sailing Club (excellent facilities), we cycle and walk around Carsington Water and the adjoining countryside, the facilities at the Visitor Centre are certainly adequate and the Water Sports Centre has lots on offer.

A great spot we saw lots of keen walkers & people with bikes. We were in a group with wheelchair users who got tired so unfortunately we didn't get very far. The hides were great & it was well signposted. It was a lovely sunny day & we found ample opportunities to sit & rest for a while. Hopefully next... More

It is a good walk, easy as the paths are well maintained. There are places to buy refreshments but the countryside is not spoilt.

Ok, so we stumbled on this place totally by mistake en-route to Matlock, but it is stunning. If you like the lake district, then you're going to like this. First things first - you can't miss this as it is a huge expanse of water & amazing countryside. It's well sign posted, but unless you've got your eyes shut, you'll... More

No cost - other than very reasonable parking charges. Good wide concrete paths around the lovely reservoir for dogs, pushchairs, bikes and mobility scooters ( the latter two are available to hire - ideally book in advance). Paths especially good while weather is so wet and many other country walks are waterlogged. An excellent children's play area and a brilliant... More

Excellently marked paths for walkers and cyclists. Plenty of parking at the visitors centre or at Sheepbridge or further along. (£3 all day) Lovely "hides" to watch the wildlife and birds with information and binoculars provided. Great for families. Outdoor playground. Inside and outside eating areas. Accessible toilets near the visitors centre. Lovely cafe/restaurant inside upstairs (there is a lift).... More
