We recently visited Carsington Water for a walk around the reservoir as part of our walking holiday. The walk was just over 8 miles and including a stop for our sandwiches took about 3 and a half hours. There were plenty of other people there walking, running and cycling around the reservoir without it feeling overcrowded. There is plenty of... More

We had a lovely time here, out in the beautiful countryside and sunshine. Two of our group had an hour on the "sit on tops", paddling themselves around the relatively calm water. There were children having sailing lessons, others out rowing, windsurfing and sailing. All seemed to be thoroughly enjoying themselves. We also went round the visitors' centre and out... More

We've lived in Sheffield for nearly 20 years and this was our first visit. Perfect for walking, cycling and if you're so inclined sailing. Plenty of parking £2.50 for 2 hours or £4.50 all day if my memory serves me correctly. Toilets, shops, cafe, and restaurants all on site make for an family easy day out.

Wonderful place for walking or bike ride. Great areas for picnics. Restaurant and shop as base camp, also lots of car parking space.

Good free water board display and we liked the restaurant (upstairs but with a lift). A few shops, small but helpful

Fab little place to spend some family time. Recommend spending a day there and wrapping up warm, as the winds make it cold! Also parking charges are high if only on a short trip for a walk.
