I enjoyed visiting the Rum Story and found the history of Whitehaven just fascinating. I would be great for kids on a rainy day too. I have eaten at the cafe a number of times. Good wholesome food at very reasonable prices.

Very interesting & informative, detailing the history of the rum making process & the slavery trade associated with the local region. Make sure that you visit when in Whitehaven!

Went for lunch. Jackets were okay but loved the DIY approach to adding the fillings to it. Children menu has decreased over the years but not bad prices

I visited the Rum story today and I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. There is plenty to see and do it only looks a small place, ITS Like the TARDIS. It took me about 3 hours to walk around the museum. There's a lovely small gift shop selling local produce and the lovely jeffersons rum which you get a small dram... More

After visiting the Beacon, we decided to take a tour of the Rum Story. Worth a visit for sure. Fascinating history behind the trade in this historic port. And a cap of Rum and the end of the tour. The only thing I would recommend a rethink on is the Rusty Lee cooking with run experience. To be honest it... More

The greeting at the desk was given without enthusiasm and didn't give enough information. The exhibit was excellent but was a lot of reading so boring for the younger members of our family. They were some good displays with recordings which added an element of surprise. However we were not told that the museum closed at 4.30pm and were nearly... More

Dark and dingy exhibit, nothing interactive, just full of reading material that is sometimes difficult to read due to lack of light. I do not class having a few grubby toys on the floor as 'child friendly'. Visited with my 7 year old daughter, absolutely nothing for children to do. My daughter walked slightly ahead of me and thus set... More

Visited here in July as a family group of 8 adults, one being in a wheelchair. It is a really great place, especially on a rainy day, full of interesting facts. We thought we would maybe be in there for an hour or two but in fact it was just over 4 hours. Easy for disabled to get round with... More

Very interesting place bigger inside than it looks. The admission prices were reasonable. Lots to do there and you can go to the top of the building and see out at a distance.also there are gifts you can buy.
