what a surprise this attraction was. Situated on the main street it looks small from the outside but it is like entering the tardis. It just grew and grew. over 3 floors it told the story of the rum trade and the slave trade. Very informative and well laid out. The lady on reception was very helpful and gave us... More

It is a lovely place filled with a lot of information about history of rum, process of making it and also slavery. Educational and interesting. Tickets at affordable price included a sample of Jefferson's rum. Worth visiting. There is a little cafe next door as well.

We visited Whitehaven on a rainy day in June looking for something to do and came across this place. It was brilliant. The interpretation and information given was outstanding and we had a lovely couple of hours looking around. This is an attraction Whitehaven should be very proud of.

We visited this attraction on a recent visit to the lakes on the recommendation of our hotel receptionist. What a delight . An interesting and informative way to spend a couple of hours. The staff were pleasant and well informed. A nice tot of rum at the end was well received and a nice little coffee shop. We have recently... More

Lovely cafe with excellent , freshly prepared, homely food, varied menu. The Rum Story Exhibition upstairs very informative and enjoyable. Children especially love the clock which tells the story of Rum as it chimes.

On a very wet, very cold first day of June we visited Whitehaven. We tried to find somewhere to go for lunch where dogs are accepted and had no success until we found ourselves at The Rum Story. We were welcomed immediately, biscuits were brought out for our dogs, a heater was put on for us and we had the... More

We visited The Rum Story during the recent half term break. We took our Son (aged 10) and his friend (aged 11). We chose this attraction for two reasons 1. That it was suitable for bad weather and 2. It was reasonably priced. We live about half an hour away so it's fairly local to us as well. The staff... More

Visited while we were walking round Whitehaven. Cheap and cheerful, a nice insight into the rum and slave trade throughout history. Nice shot of rum at the end of the tour which was certainly eye opening! Nice couple of hours, would recommend as something to do here.

Having lived in Cumbria for years I have heard of the Rum Story on many occasions, but never actually visited. Until now. Group of 4 adults 4 children (2 under 2) one 6 and one 7. The 2 youngest were free. As somebody else mentioned from the front it looks tiny and unassuming but when we got inside we found... More

One of the best day out I have ever had. I was met by a really nice lady who told me all about The Rum Story, then she gave me a map to find my way round with. I saw all sorts of things and learned a lot. LIAM ATKINSON age 8
