Just brilliant and not overpriced. It's a hidden gem in the middle of town. There isn't much to do in Whitehaven when it's poring with rain but this is a must.

You may be already familiar with the whiskey tour in Edinburgh, but probably you have never heard of the rum history museum. Well, on the basis of my experience, you may well find worthwhile paying a visit to this museum in Whitehaven. Kids and adults alike shall love the trip to Antigua and revisiting the trade of slaves and rum.... More

what better way to educate people about what went on regarding slavery than people that were involved in it. This attraction centres obviously around the rum industry but takes in a great deal about slavery on the sugar fields. I knew some of the things but so much of what is in here is almost a biography. in some areas... More

Fun place to learn about the rum history of Whitehaven. I love the court yard cafe, it has food at great price & lovely staff. Shop has a great selection of local items.

what a surprise this attraction was. Situated on the main street it looks small from the outside but it is like entering the tardis. It just grew and grew. over 3 floors it told the story of the rum trade and the slave trade. Very informative and well laid out. The lady on reception was very helpful and gave us... More

It is a lovely place filled with a lot of information about history of rum, process of making it and also slavery. Educational and interesting. Tickets at affordable price included a sample of Jefferson's rum. Worth visiting. There is a little cafe next door as well.

We visited Whitehaven on a rainy day in June looking for something to do and came across this place. It was brilliant. The interpretation and information given was outstanding and we had a lovely couple of hours looking around. This is an attraction Whitehaven should be very proud of.

We visited this attraction on a recent visit to the lakes on the recommendation of our hotel receptionist. What a delight . An interesting and informative way to spend a couple of hours. The staff were pleasant and well informed. A nice tot of rum at the end was well received and a nice little coffee shop. We have recently... More

Lovely cafe with excellent , freshly prepared, homely food, varied menu. The Rum Story Exhibition upstairs very informative and enjoyable. Children especially love the clock which tells the story of Rum as it chimes.

On a very wet, very cold first day of June we visited Whitehaven. We tried to find somewhere to go for lunch where dogs are accepted and had no success until we found ourselves at The Rum Story. We were welcomed immediately, biscuits were brought out for our dogs, a heater was put on for us and we had the... More
