The museum is very good and informative.however it is not great for children in that it is not very interactive and all the information is in far too much detaill and a difficult read for kids.I would like to have seen more child friendly displays and information displayed in an easy to read/understand way so that kids can learn and... Open 10am to 4.30pm. Our visit started at 10am, we had the place to ourselves. Staff were very helpful and friendly. All public areas clean and well presented. A map is provided to guide you through the three floors, stairs, lifts. ramps and fire exits are clearly marked. You need to take your time on each floor as there is... More

worth a couple of hours if your in Whitehaven, its very interesting and educational. staff really helpful and friendly. children enjoyed it especially the underground part, younger ones got a bit bored in the other parts but teenagers found it interesting reading about the slavery etc.

We had been engrossed visiting The Beacon which had more in it than we expected and consequently this left us little time for this attraction especially as it closed at 4.30.p.m. From the Beacon, we quickly found the back of the building from a map but couldn't find an entrance and had to ask. Once there we entered and paid... More

Popped into here on the way home from holiday, not really expecting all that much to be honest at a fiver. However couldn't have been proved more wrong. We were a bit confused when the Sat Nav told us we were at our destination as it's in the middle of town (due later we found out to being on the... More

Visited the rum story on a Sunday in Whitehaven while looking for somewhere to have a cup of tea. Ordered a scone with my tea, this was rock hard, obviously not fresh and not good enough to eat. My money was returned. I just want to say that if you think it worth while opening on a Sunday, you must... More
