Bobbins....but in a good way!

Thought this was a great piece of history that had been saved. We all enjoyed seeing the bobbins being made and imagining the people that used to work there

This is the second time we've been here and I enjoyed it just as much this time! It's s wonderfully evocative survival with all the smells, noises and sights of s forgotten history and exactly the sort of place a heritage organisation should be looking after! Great!! You can probably do the whole thing in an hour and have to... More

We were looking for something to do on a rainy day and we came across this Bobbin Mill. At first glance it looked a bit dull but we couldn't have been more wrong about that! We were booked on a tour and had a 45 minute wait so we explored the site and read through the information in the barn... More

Just returned from holiday in southern lakes - Rusland valley - and on a wet morning decided to visit the Bobbin Mill. What a great find. The visit basically is a tour of the mill covering its history, the people and some practical demonstations of the machinery. The production quantity that this mill turned out is staggering. We were 4... More

We visited the Stott Park Bobbin Mill on a very wet afternoon. We were really glad that we did. It is an amazing glimpse of time gone by. Our tour guide Rebecca was very friendly and gave us lots of information. We were given a practical demonstration of how bobbins were made by Linda. To see machinery crafted so many... More

We spent (including two teenagers) a good couple of hours here. Well worth it. We've spent a lot more on a lot less. The guy giving the tour was very enthusiastic, plenty of info and good to see some of the machinery running. Would love to see the steam engine running.

After escaping the overcrowded Bowness this place was brilliant. Great retelling of history that interested 8 and 16 year old. Beautiful setting. A bit of a hidden gem.

A very informative and interesting visit, for both the adults and our goddaughter, who loved finding the information points, answering the questions and completing her quiz. So much to see and the tour was led by very knowledgeable staff who were very welcoming. The demonstration of the tools being used was a bonus. A really good trip. Followed by boarding... More

My wife forced me to go. She found it very interesting. If you're into this kind of thing you'll be happy. I'm not into this sort of thing. My kids were interested and the guide was clearly knowledgeable and interesting. The practical demonstrations were good. My wife will happily return. I ended up buying crossbows for my kids in the... We all had such a fantastic time at the Bobbin Mill today, we learnt so much from the tour and demonstrations and we're thrilled with how much information was provided from the tour guide(Mick), and how they bought the mill to life. There was so much history to be learnt about the importance of the mill and how it had... More
