We visited as we have just joined English heritage. We arrived just as a tour was starting. The guide was so interesting. Showing us the machines and how they made bobbins. He answered the questions well. Afterwards we walked up to the tarn. An excellent visit. English heritage doing it so well.

Visited last year and really wanted to come back to enjoy it all over again. We visited on a warm sunny day. This mill makes looking back in history very enjoyable. The site is beautifully maintained and plenty to look at from the signs giving the history of the mill to the picnic tables and benches to relax on. The... More

I just loved this place. Our guide made it come alive as he took us around the various processes, even making a few bobbins on the way. I loved the interest shown by a couple of ten (or so) year olds when they were told they'd have been put to work in the mill at their age. It's well worth... More

What a wonderful hidden Gem. We arrived just after a tour had started but another was starting in only 45 minutes and we were allowed to roam the site while waiting. The weather was beautiful and the area was immaculately maintained. We wandered around then had a seat in the beautiful sunshine. There are lots of benches and seats around... More

We enjoy exploring the heritage of the region we are visiting and this example has it all. The geography and economics of the area combining to give rise to a major industry, in its time, of which this is the final one left standing. The guided tour was informative and the explanations of the development and demise of the mill... More

We visited this lovely spot yesterday and we enjoyed the visit very much. The guided tour was very informative, but also highly entertaining. We learned a lot about working conditions in the mill and could watch the process of bobbins being made. As a souvenir we took some bobbins home where they will make a nice and unusual decoration. Thank... More

Agree with previous reviews that this really is a hidden gem, and the investment that English Heritage have put into the site makes it a really worthwhile visit. It is not like a bad school trip that we all remember as the staff are so friendly and knowledgeable it does bring history to life and make you think about your... More

We found this place by accident whilst driving through ulverston on a red hot afternoon. I have three children aged 6, 9 and 12 all of which thoroughly enjoyed the visit, the staff made them feel really included by explaining things in a way which was relevant to them and by getting them involved with demonstrations. There was also a... More

Visited stott park today and really enjoyed it. The staff, from the off, we're very friendly, welcoming and helpful. I took part in the £6.60 tour of the mill which is very informative and interesting! As bizarre as this may sound the smell was beautiful. Really reminded me of industrial workings and museums :)
