We really enjoyed the tour of the mill and found it very informative. It was really great to see the whole process from start to finish and imagine how it would have been in the past when it was in full working use. To see the lathes and machinery working really added to the feel of the whole experience. Just... More

A little English Heritage gem! We thoroughly enjoyed an informative tour with Neil and Tracey our guides. Good to see the process from start to finish and learn about the history of the site from it's beginnings to present day, a really good overview of what is possibly the last bobbin mill in the world. The mill was a working... More

We came here with our two girls and we all found it really interesting. The staff were all really helpful and we loved seeing machinery working. My girls were telling everyone about it the next day we would go again.

While we were in the area we took the opportunity of making a return visit to the Bobbin Mill. This time we had our grand daughter with us. It was a damp day, but it didn't detract for the visit. There was a trail for the children to follow with a reward at the end. Won't tell you what the... More

This was a brilliant place for looking back into how bobbins are made. Excellent staff and very interesting. Working machinery being demonstrated. We even took our dogs round. Great hidden little gem and ideal for the kids to see how things are made. Highly recommend.

Only dropped in as my husband visited here as a child and he wanted to show our 3yo. So glad we did it's a little gem of a place with the steam engine powering the original machines and the chance to see a bobbin being made from block of tree to recognisable bobbin! The workings of the mill are enthusiastically... More

It was a rather damp day and as English Heritage members we thought we would drop by the bobbin mill. This is not the sort of place that would normally be of much interest but we went along to see what it was all about. I’m glad we did! You join a guided tour which also has demonstrations of how... We visited the Mill on a cold, wet day, but found the place really attractive and informative. The Mill is only open as a tour, as they demonstrate much of the working machinery as possible. Check when the steam engine is working though - as it's not every day. Seeing the bobbins being made was fascinating, and realising the impact... More

What a wonderful place, the tour is a must so it's worth checking that these are taking place before setting out. Sharon took us around most of the site, and Tracy showed us the steam engine as well as demonstrating some of the machinery. There is also a nice picnic area outside. The shop is different from most English Heritage... More

What a great attraction and so informative and even better that it was part of English Heritage which we are all members off. A great guided tour and also to see a physical demonstration of how the bobbins were made just added that little extra. If you are in the area, then it is a must to go and see... More
