Health and Safety procedures were all impressive, a very thorough job done on that side of things. Equipment (adequate boots and a hat) provided. Our ride leader was attentive, responsive and pleasant company to be in. Engaging in plenty of conversation which was nice to see. Horses all well kept by sight, all well mannered and a nice ride. It... More

This is a must every year for our 16 year old, to get out on a beach ride on these magnificent, gigantic horses! To do the beach ride you do need to have experience as it involves cantering and trotting but if you are up to it, you have to do this! It is a bit pricey but worth every... More

We did the half day beach ride. The whole experience was fabulous. Although I have my own horse I am sometimes a bit nervous about riding horses I don't know but Annie's horses are great - fun and not plods but we felt completely safe. I would definitely recommend. Thank you Annie and Toby for the best day of our... More

We got lost due to our own incorrect navigation and were running 30 minutes late, this was absolutely no problem, when we arrived the horses were ready, we had an amazing teacher who was very patient and explained everything thoroughly. It was the first time I have felt so comfortable riding a horse. The horses themselves are stunning animals, very... More

I went on a half day beach ride yesterday. I wanted to echo all the previous positive reviews regarding the horses, organisation, safety etc. However I wanted to give a special mention to our ride leader Holly. She was great company, safe without being boring and the icing on the cake was that she used my phone to take some... More

We were looking for a fun, exciting activity that all the family would be able to do and enjoy and found a brochure advertising the Cumbrian Heavy Horses riding experience. Our daughter had been dreaming about riding during the summer and this was a great opportunity we could not pass. The view was gorgeous and we learned a lot about... More

I've been riding for 20 years. My husband is a fair-weather rider every few months. Had a long chat with Annie when booking (VERY important to be honest in your self-assessment) and she matched us with horses to our ability perfectly. Riding on the beach was a bucket list item for me and what a fabulous experience! She arranged a... More

Returning to Cumbria for another opportunity to ride one of Annie's gentle giants was not a whim but a must! I had thoroughly enjoyed the farm ride I had done five years earlier with my two grown up children who were total novices but this time I came alone to enjoy a fell and a beach ride with only one... I used to own heavy horses many years ago and my partner had bought me a 2 hour farm ride as a birthday present. I was very anxious when I arrived, not haven ridden in over 20 years, but the staff were fantastic and I soon felt at ease. The horse they’d chosen was perfect for me and my guide... More

Well, it's the day after our ride and I just want to go back and hug all the horses. Our 2hr ride was for beginners, and the staff here treated us all amazingly! Especially since we got rather lost on our way over and were 30min late :( (sorry again!) Toby and Alice took great care of us, helping everyone... More
