These for me was a fantastic find as we originally were not going to Cartmel, there was a food market on in the and after noticing signs at he road side about the market we decide to go Carmel and have a look. The village has very tight streets and parking can be hard in the village but I would... More

Cartmel Cheeses in Unsworth's Yard was a brilliant find during our stop in Cartmel. In fact the whole of Unsworth's Yard is worth seeking out. The choice of cheeses on offer in the shop is fantastically mouth-watering. Slightly on the pricey side, but we would say worth it for the quality and standard. Also plenty of lovely bread, preserves and... More

We visit the Lake District every couple of years and always visit here as it is a must. Great cheeses with an amazing bakery linked to it and a micro-brewery next door. Seriously, what more do you want or need?!

We always stock up on local cheese from this place when we visit Cartmel. The staff are very knowledgable and can advise on what food matches the cheeses. They also supply L'Enclume so what we normally do is have a wide ranging cheese board at the restaurant on a Sat night, note the cheeses we really like and then buy... More

What a pity that the staff behind the counter were so unhelpful, and in fact rude, when we visited. I am amazed at the glowing reports for this place and feel that it is time for an honest and open review to be posted. The cheeses are over priced and the condition of the cheese we selected was poor at... More

I'm sorry we didn't get it right on this occasion. As a specialist cheese shop we stock a diverse range of cheeses that represent an equally diverse range of flavours. Sometimes particular cheeses are challenging to some peoples palates, sometimes they're downright offensive, to another customer this could be just the kind of cheese they're after. That's the thing about... More

Superb selection of cheeses, both hard and soft. Tried the 'Mrs. Kirkham's Lancs - very tasty and the Wenslydale, also very more - ish. Certainly worth a visit. Also, you must try the fresh homemade bread in the adjoining shop, owned by the same people - so many varieties. Really good.

cartmell cheeses was tucked away down a lovely little village street and as you opened the door, the smells were lovelly, lots of cheeses locally produced however although a very friendly reception, cheeses were a little over priced (still bought some though)..just love good cheeses.

This place is cheese heaven! A fantastic range of delicious cheeses, served by knowledgable staff. Not cheap by any means, but the quality is sensational. They also sell great home baked bread, but get there early, they sell out quickly!

Wow, this place was a real find. We literally were walking past and saw the cheese in the window and had to pop in. The smell was incredible and we were given tastes of just about everything available. The staff were attentive and knowledgeable and were not bothered one bit by our lack of knowledge on the subject. We spent... More
