Wisbech port is just that a port that small boats can more or the odd ship can visit. Apart from the councils extravigant waist of money called the boat house there is nothing but businesses. A lot of money has been spent changing roads to make life difficult for local people who live behind the dock area and the business... More

It is a very pleasant spot by the river overlooking the harbour. It is very little used and although there is a nice café it is closed at weekends when people may have leisure time. In fact nothing is made of this resource I suppose because of a mothballed building project nearby and the fact that nothing is made of... More

we didn't realise there was a harbour. The road we took was through an industrial area so we were very surprised to find this little gem.

The Marina has really improved the area and made it a pleasant place to visit. Looks really clean and tidy too.

Situated on a tidal river miles from the sea. Visitors cannot gain access to the boat area. Can only be viewed from the nearby roadbridge and from the opposite bank of the river. Few amenities in area. Cost local taxpayers a small fortune to develop and has attracted few boats and no development of the land around.

Sadly the cafe in the Boathouse has closed. It appears the delay in developing the residential sites is preventing it being profitable at prsent, Hopefully the completion of the delayed development will allow new tentants to reopen the cafe. The council have tidied up the surroundings and resurfaced the access roads and the landscaping is nice. A lovely walk along... More

This location is always interesting with a range of vessels moored up. The landscaping is looking nice. The new housing developments are under construction. The Boathouse is an interesting modern building with a wind turbine. There is a gallery whih is used for occasional displays.

We just had an evening stroll to see what is happening by the R Nene these days. Several boats in at high tide. We were not there to use any of the facilities so cannot really comment, but for a pleasant riverside walk it's OK.

The harbour area is still work-in-progress, but it's all in the right direction. Wisbech needs some modern class to alongside the Georgian architecture, and this harbour development looks to be just that. The boathouse is a stunning piece of design, that's really maturing now that the timbers have aged.
