If you are a National Trust member, you really should try eating out here. Worth booking because it does get busy. Food is very good with some great historic dishes on the menu. Servers are kept busy but are pretty attentive. Plan to have a walk after your meal because you will need it!

As life members of the National Trust we have visited numerous properties at all times of the year and appreciate that during the winter months the houses are only partially open. However Waddesdon still charges £18 admission for viewing 6 rooms which are completely dominated by enormous Christmas trees (beautifully decorated) and with no information about the rooms/furniture/family available. Our... More

Dear Sue G, I am sorry to read your comments regarding our Christmas season here at Waddesdon Manor, which opened on the day that you visited. We actually have 10 different display areas throughout our Austrian-themed Christmas Trail within the Manor, which we clearly advertise in all of our marketing materials and on our website as being in the East... The inspiring and irreverent Travelling Gourmet is awestruck by the stately country home of ... MULTI-TALENTED Baron Ferdinand de Rothschild in the Vale of Aylesbury. This is prime farming country and when the Baron bought the estate, it was just bare farm land. He threw his heart and soul into building this Neo-Renaissance Chateau where he could house his growing... More

This is an amazing NT property, reminiscence of a French chateau with its external staircase. The house is crammed with wonderful antiques and paintings. In fact there was far too much take in at one visit However, the highlight of our visit was the guided tour of the bird garden. My husband and I were the only people on the... More

Our visit was hampered by the fact that it was raining most of the time for our visit. The Manor would not have been out of place in the Loire valley as it looked like many a French Chateau. The grounds are extensive and most likely quite beautiful when the sun shines. We probably will not revisit.

I am very sorry to read about your recent experience at Waddesdon. We are closed on Mondays and Tuesdays, and open every Wednesday to Sunday plus bank holidays. I am not sure who the drivers of the van were, and whether they were Waddesdon staff or possibly contractors who had been let in through the gates. Our security team control... More

The building is beautiful and it is a very rich history. It is built to look like a French Château from the Loire region, and it achieves it magnificently. The story is told very well by the audio guides as you wander around the house. You really should get the audio guide as it explains so much and gives many... More

As the title says this is a beautiful house to visit both inside and out. The gardens are lovely to wander in and enjoy some peace.
