Moran State Park is a special jewel in the San Juan Islands. At the east end of Orcas Island, the campground and lake are located at the foot of Mt. Constitution, the highest point in the San Juans. The park is full of trails of various degrees of difficulty. Our favorite place in the park is at the top of... More

We drove to Cascade Falls first and walked the short trail to the falls. The falls is small but worth the little hike. Then we continued up to Mt. Constitution lookout. Thankfully it was pretty clear day so we could see Mt. Baker and The Twin Sisters. The view of the water and islands is so worth the drive up!!!

The history of the park and the tower is so cool. You can see 180 degrees from east to west, facing north.

There is so much to do at this park. You can drive to the top to check out the highest point on Orcas Island, camp, hike, bike, swim, see wildlife, pretty much anything. You will need a permit which can be bought at several places within the park, including the parking lot at the top.

This is a great place to discover with amazing trip to top of mountain to climb a watch tower. View was foggy when we went but I can imagine how nice it would be on clear day. great place to drive and explore, with nice water activities in summer.

We drove up to the top of Mount Constitution, the view is incredible! We had a beautiful clear sunny day. We'd love to come back and explore and hike when we have more time. There were several neat lakes that we passed on the way up.

You won't be sorry. The view from the top is outstanding. Then walk around, breathe, feed your soul, and offer gratitude.

Moran state park is THE place to go in Orcas Island if you love nature. It has an unforgettable experience for everyone who is looking for scenic hikes (all levels of difficulty), picnics, camping or photography. It was our first hiking trip in WA and we took the easiest trail (from Cold Spring) to Mt. Constitution. It was easily the... More

We only had a few short hours but man, were we happy we did it!! The only downside is if you try to venture off onto any of the less-than-popular trails, the maps are not really that helpful. The hikes were gorgeous but perhaps having something slightly more than normal tennis shoes is good since some areas were pretty muddy.... More
