Drove up to Mount Constitution; it was gray and drizzling, so didn’t get great views even from the “watch tower” there. Would go again for the views in better weather :) On the way back, we found a viewing area beside the road which was just amazing; you could just sit on a rock and enjoy the silent majesty of... Holy Hannah...Amazing views and scenery. The ride to top of Mt. Constution is frightening. Narrow roads and not a ton of guard rails. So with it. My son calls it the top of the world. There is a reason.

Leaving Eastsound to go to Moran Park is a great drive on its own but I did not expect to find an old mansion on the sea....a museum, a stroll into history. If you ever saw that horrible movie with Jane Seymour and Christopher Reeve's...you'll understand. But that's not the parl, that's the old Moran mansion at Rosario Resort and... More

Moran State Park is a special jewel in the San Juan Islands. At the east end of Orcas Island, the campground and lake are located at the foot of Mt. Constitution, the highest point in the San Juans. The park is full of trails of various degrees of difficulty. Our favorite place in the park is at the top of... More

We drove to Cascade Falls first and walked the short trail to the falls. The falls is small but worth the little hike. Then we continued up to Mt. Constitution lookout. Thankfully it was pretty clear day so we could see Mt. Baker and The Twin Sisters. The view of the water and islands is so worth the drive up!!!

The history of the park and the tower is so cool. You can see 180 degrees from east to west, facing north.

There is so much to do at this park. You can drive to the top to check out the highest point on Orcas Island, camp, hike, bike, swim, see wildlife, pretty much anything. You will need a permit which can be bought at several places within the park, including the parking lot at the top.

This is a great place to discover with amazing trip to top of mountain to climb a watch tower. View was foggy when we went but I can imagine how nice it would be on clear day. great place to drive and explore, with nice water activities in summer.
