Our guide was fantastic, and the ruins are breathtaking. I strongly suggest the Dzibanche ruins (and also Kohunlich if you have time!). Climbing to the top is one thing that Chacchoben just doesn't offer. Vans are comfortable and well air conditioned. more

Our first stop of a week long cruise, we met up with Ivan @ Native Choice, and a good selection we had! The vans were prompt, and took us to the Ruins, where we met up collectively. We had such a wonderful experience. The only down side is tha we did not get to go to the schools to disribute... more

We loved this adventure to the Chacchoben ruins and added the Mayan experience, meeting a native family, learning to make tortillas, eating a wonderful meal (very clean and fresh food), and authentic entertainment. Well worth the money. more

When you take the Chacchoben ruins tour also take the Maya village . You learn how to make tortillas and eat a genuine Maya meal. Tortillas are very important to the Mayan diet. The ruins were awesome and large. I did not fair well making a tortilla but luckily for everyone.......... I did not cook the meal. It was delicious... more

One of the best tours I've taken. Ivan was an excellent tour guide. Being Mayan and living at Chacchoben ruins growing up, he knew the history well and did a superb job sharing it with our small group. The ride to the ruins went quickly as he shared the Mayan culture with us. The ruins were larger than expected from... more

There is no better way to see Chaccoben than with the Native Choice. We didn't come attached to a cruise ship but stayed in Mahaual at Balamku Inn. We were picked up at Balamku by van, promptly. Noel was very informative during the hour long drive to the site. We stopped for locally grown pineapple topped with pepper & spices... more

My husband and I booked this tour online after reading the reviews on Trip Advisor. Although we were uneasy about booking a tour 50 miles inland, independently of our cruise ship and in a country with serious security problems, our fears were allayed when we arrived at our departure site in Costa Maya. The transportation, organization and professionalism of The... more

We visited Costa Maya on our Carnival Valor Cruise in March of 09. We did the Mayan Experience with Ivan which was one of the highlights of our trip. Ivan was more than informative about the Mayan culture and history which was so interesting for all ages, We had a blast learning how to make tortillas and being served a... more

In December 2008, we took out extended family ages 2 to 80 years on the NCL Spirit western Carribian Cruise. In order to save a few bucks we booked our shore excursions ourselves, ahead of time. In Costa Maya, we booked a tour with the Native Choice, combining the Mayan ruins with a trip to Lagun Azul, a fresh water... more

Booked Native Choice last week based solely on the superlative reviews here on TA- Once again a total winner. Thanks TA! If you did not know, Costa Maya is not an actual city but a newly created costal port built on a virgin strip of the Yucatan by the Mexican Government exclusively as a cruise ship draw. The primary attraction... more
