Turtles!

Another jewel that is well preseved although is on the side of Akumal's public beach. A good Spot for scuba diving.

Beautiful bay, great restaurants, wonderful snorkeling. Go on your own, don't book a tour. The bay is calm and clear. Lots of fish and turtles.

Sea Turtles, yes, we saw lots! Beautiful afternoon at Akumal. We had the luxury of swimming at Half Moon Bay where we saw lots of sea turtles. Water is quite calm so fun for the whole family (2 adults and 3 pre-teens).

We went snorkeling in the hopes of seeing sea turtles. The weather was getting a little stormy and the normally calm waters were a little rough. This was number one on my bucket list though and I wasn't leaving without going out there! Down on the sandy bottom, the graceful turtles were grazing peacefully. It was a truly magical experience!

Best to get advice on the least rocky entry spots, water is quite shallow for some time so it's slow going in with flippers on - but well worth it. Fish are not all that big here as the water is not that deep, but there is a great variety. Even saw a school of about 500 fish in one... More

Far less people here than Akumal Bay which is only a short distance away. I was glad we had water shoes because it was a rocky entry. But with the water shoes, it was not difficult to get past the rock and into the sand. There were many more fish and coral here than at Akumal Bay. The snorkeling was... More

We have visited this beach 5 times starting in 1991 (honeymoon) last visit October 2014. We love the lack of crowds, great snorkeling and little beach side restaurants and bars (La Buena Vida a favorite). Margaritas in the swing seats and dinner on beach. Snorkeling is great with small reef an easy swim from shore. We have stayed at several... More

This is an easy spot to snorkel and finding turtles could not be easier. This beach was easy to get to from our resort in Akumal and after the snorkeling there are little shops to visit and a place for lunch, ice cream or a small bar for a drink.

Stayed at a condo (Playa Caribe) right in the center of the HMB beach. Rocky entry in most places, and tons of sargassum when we visited, but a beautiful bay. Not as protected as Akumal Bay, but saw A surprising number of snorkelers on a daily basis, and a very tranquil setting. La Buena Vida restaurant makes a convenient resting/... More

We stayed in a rental house on Half Moon Bay from March 28-April 5. I can honestly say this was the most peaceful vacation we have ever taken. No crowds of people...we honestly felt like we were the only two people in the world some days. The beach is rocky...but once you get past the rocks the snorkeling is amazing.... More
