I stay on Half Moon Bay when I go to Akumal. It's truly beautiful and still peaceful -- despite condos and a smattering of restaurants and hotels, it's not what I'd consider to be overly developed (hopefully it won't become like that). The one thing I'd say is that the Bay is quite rocky in many areas, which can make... More

Free attraction in Akumal!! Quiet beach at any time of the day. You can relax on the sand, swim in the clear water, or go snorkeling in the bay in a huge coral reef. Tons of fish love this quiet closed off bay. The water is not rough because the coral reef breaks the wave action. We went there two... More

We enjoyed a wonderful 5-night stay here in July. Half Moon Bay is a gorgeous, quiet beach within easy walking distance to Akumal. We spent hours relaxing on our condo's patio (or in the hammock), enjoying the sun and the ocean breeze. We did snorkel in front of our condo, but didn't see as many fish or turtles as in... More

Really loved my time staying on Half Moon Bay. Beautiful beach, good snorkeling, great restaurants (loved La Buena Vida right on the beach), and I got to see the release of a baby turtle that got left behind in the nest. It was truly magical.

It's soooooooo relaxing. This is a place you must visit when you are in the Akumal area! The snorkeling is wonderful and the people are amazing. We parked our stuff on a bench, never worried about theft and jumped in the water. If you love sea life it is a MUST DO on your trip!

The bay is stunning and beautiful to walk along. Very rocky and hard to enter. There was a lot of trash accumulating along the shore, especially in front of empty lots. Had a wonderful experience watching baby turtles being released one evening.

some people say go here to do snorkelling, we went by on a boat and there was nobody on the beach, there were villas lined up along the shore, but otherwise go to akumal where all the action is.

The location is beautiful. Hardly anyone about which was nice. The bay is very rocky and have very sharp corals - it's hard to get in the sea - make sure you have sand shoes for getting in and out of the water.

This reminded me of how Akumal bay used to be. It was fairly untouched with just a couple places to eat and a dive shop. Uncrowded and beautiful.

Sea turtles and too many colorful fish to count. We saw tangs, Sargent majors, barracuda, jelly fish, rainbow parrot fish & countless others.
