El Publito Minisuper is clean, well managed and stocked with essential supplies for cooking breakfast, making a snack or a good beverage. The staff is very helpful and kind. I shop here because the store employs local Maya people which helps the local economy. Options for major grocery shopping are limited in Akumal. For major purchases, visit Super Chedruai in... More

Very well located and open until late, they have tons of American snacks, basic stuff and cold drinks. Expensive.

El Pueblito is clean and has a reasonable variety of products. Frankly, there are no fabulous supermarkets in Akumal, which is fine with me! I'm really not interested in the presence of any kind of fully-stocked megastore. I like the fact that Akumal is still small (though it's certainly not as quiet as it used to be). El Pueblito has... $200 pesos for a 12 ounce can of coke. The prices in this store and the one across the street are crazy. I live in town and will never shop here or the market across the street. We need an OXXO to give some competition to these guys and the guys across the street.

We found some great souvenirs there as well as coffee, honey and vanilla that we wanted to take home. When we left, we accidentally left our wallet on the counter and they came out immediately to find us and return it. That was AWESOME!!!

Good selection, friendly staff, a little on the pricey side, but still a pleasure to peruse around! I bought a simply excellent bottle of tequila there in December 2012 and went back for it this past trip but they didn't have it.

The owner and the manager are two of the nicest people I've ever met; that's a good enough reason to shop here. This is a convenience store, not a supermarket, so don't expect a huge selection or the best prices, but it probably has everything you need and it's located right outside the main arch at the entrance to Akumal,... The people that work at El Pueblito are very nice, much nicer than another grocery in the area in my experience. They have a nice selection of beer and liquor, as well as gift items and snacks. I always make it a point to stop in here several times during each of our trips to Akumal.

Your one stop shop in the area for souvieners, snacks, groceries and the little things you need while on vacation. If you're staying in a resort, this is a great place to get cheap snack food and booze to bring home, rather than paying double than on the resort. There are very helpful workers, and they seem to know english... More
