We run three trips per day 7 days a week: 9am, 11am and 2pm, visiting over 30 diverse dive locations. We provide both equipment rental and rinsing facilities as well as areas for storing equipment. Reservations for certification courses, accommodation packages, and diving may be made in advance through our US office. Or just drop by and sign up for the next day's activities. Destinations for diving in Akumal take place on the world's second largest barrier reef. You will find abundant coral and marine life along three different major spur and groove formations. The deep reef starts at a depth of approximately 60 to 70 feet and extends out in finger like ridges, and drops to between 100 and 140 feet of beautiful canyons. A second reef ranges from 50 to 70 feet in depth. The shallow portion of the reef runs between 25 to 45 feet in depth with large Elkhorn formations. This area is ideal for photography and serves as an underwater "classroom" for students participating in training dives. Akumal Dive Adventures prides itself in a non-invasive approach to scuba diving. We encourage visitors to enjoy this underwater paradise without impacting or touching the fragile formations. Accompanying each dive trip is our professional boat crew, including a licensed captain and PADI dive master or instructor. The water temperatures average 84°F in the summer months and 78°F in the winter months. Visibility ranges between 50 to 150 feet due to the slight current that keeps the water ever-changing and clear. Dive safety precautions are of utmost importance to us. « less

Don't go to this shop if you just want to rent snorkel gear and see the reef in half moon bay. The prices for the gear are higher than stated on their website. The gear is terrible and cheap (got blisters for the first time) The guy that rented us the gear gave us no suggestions and basically just gave... More

Nice small DiveOp. No catttle boat here. Simple check in, good predive briefing, everybody friendly. First day it was just my wife & I on the boat, personal service! Second day, two other couples. Great plant/sponge life in this area, not like the wiped-out Cozumel reefs. Saw at least ten turtles on our last dive, three within ten feet of... More

I've been on numerous fishing trips with Akumal Dive Adventures and it's always my go-to dive shop for snorkel gear and scuba training. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. Shayla, the dive master, is a fabulous teacher and Lupe, the fishing captain, is very experienced and always makes us feel comfortable out on the boat. This year, we tried... More

We have 4 children, ages 13 - 21, who were diving. For our 13 year old son, it was the first dive since his certification dive . Shayla did a good job with us. Visibility was unparallelled, and we had beautiful corral and sea life, just a short distance from the shop.

I was excited to get my diving certification. After talking to divers I chose AKUMAL because of a instructor named Shayla. She is a excellent instructor. She knows when to be calming and when to push you to perform the necessary skills needed. She teaches and doesn't just let you slide through. When you finish you know how to dive... More

My son and I completed our dive certification under the close supervision of Shaleh. We had excellent personal instruction and felt very confident that we were learning a safe and responsible way to dive. The open water dives are great in the the first 30 minutes or so are fun dives then you settle in to do the skills. This... More

I like traveling to places that are off the beaten path and prefer to support local dive shops over the more commercialized ones, so this dive shop was perfect for me. I greatly appreciate that they've kept the shoreline intact (so, yes, water shoes are recommended). ADA is authentic and laid back -- a diver's dive shop. It was very... More

Shaleh is an excellent teacher and very much as Jeremy wrote. Mario is a kind knowledgeable boat captain. The location is quiet and unassuming which I like. The adjoining restaurant is casual and the food is delicious!

I am a bit biased because I favor half-moon bay and vista del mar. That said, Shaleh Clark is an excellent instructor. She is thorough, tough, knowledgeable, and playful. She will slug you if necessary! Jose is a wonderful guy who understands Akumal and it's sealife! He really attempts to make your priorities his own- Fishing, Diving, Tortugas, Cenote's -... More

On June 19th I went on a 2 hour deep sea fishing trip with my family with these guys and I caught a nice 6 pound 23 inch bonito.
