For those interested in seeing major pre-Columbian archeological sites in Mexico, the opportunities are many, which can make it difficult to compare and choose. After trips to Mexico City and the Yucatan during the past year, I have formed some impressions about five important sites that might be helpful. This is a simplified timeline of Mesoamerican cultures mentioned below: Olmec,... More

We were advised to go early in the morning and i think this makes Teotihucan so special. We arrived at 9am and pretty much well had the pyramid of the sun to ourselves...it makes all the difference. As we were leaving the first coach tours arrived. The pyramids may not be as huge as Egypt but the sheer scale of... More

Ok, ok, forget all the touchy feely history crap. I'd like to judge this place on what is going on today, and today, dear readers, there are no seats on ANY of the toilets in Teotihuacan. None. Anywhere. So for your 51 pesos all you get is a bunch of rock, a lot of discomfort, and some streaky underthings. Haven't... More

With no doubt, both pyramids are imponent. The pyramid built to worship the god Sun, is the highest. To reach the top, is necessary to have oxigen enough in your lungs. The same happens in The Moon´s Pyramid, it is difficult because it is less inclinated & shorter than the Sun. When walks on the "Calzada de los Muertos" it... More

Teotihuacan was a highlight of our trip. We stayed overnight in the village so that we could get an early start in the morning and I'm glad we did. We had the Pyramid of the Sun to ourselves before 8am. Except for the balloonists....apparently you can take a balloon tour of the site at dawn. The balloons were arriving as... More

After taking the Autobus Teotihuacan, which leaves every half-hour, from the North Bus Station, I arrived at Teotihuacan after a pleasant and economical ride about one hour later. If you have not brought any water with you, now is the time to stock-up at the entrance. Be prepared for a lot of climbing and walking, and keep in mind that... More

A must see site for anyone visiting Mexico City. I hope one day we will be able to learn more about the builders of Teotihuacan; who built it and why was it abandoned. Be prepared to get some exercise when visiting; you can climb both pyramids. More

I took the metro/subway (3pesos) to the bus station (Autobuses del Norte on the Yellow Line, #5). At the far end (all the way to the left as you enter the bus station from the metro) is a booth that sells bus tickets to Teotihuacan. It cost 35 pesos for a one way ticket (you buy the return ticket when... More
