This has been improved over the years and is now a beautiful walkway with lots of play space and cool, shady parts. Well utilised by the inhabitants and visitors

"Malecon" is Spanish for a walkway along the waterfront. In a town paved with cobblestones and uneven sidewalks, this pathway along Lake Chapala runs from the pier west. On the weekends, the parkway along the Malecon is busy with families. The rest of the week, it's just a pleasant place to stroll. There is an outstanding playground for children and... More

Well done walkway along the lake where you can just sit on a bench and watch the wonderful wildlife. Many egrets, herons and pelicans fishing close to shore.

Certainly not as much here as on the Chapala malecon, but great place to take your dog for a walk or just to go for a stroll. The weekends are a bit busier with a few vendors and families picnicing in the park. Great way to get to the Plaza or the Wednesday Tianguis without having to walk through town.

The Ajijic malecon on the lake is absolutely beautiful, all of it, at anytime of day or night! Nothing to dislike here...

it is indeed a pleasant stroll. There are very few vendors on the Malecon. Runners and skaters, about all the people you will encounter as well as families just taking a stroll. The view is great. Also picnic tables if you want to bring a snack. It is the largest lake in Mexico. 2,2 miles long. The lake has an... More

This was a bonus that we had not expected. It is a pleasant walk along the shore of Lake Chapala. The area was well planned and I very clean and interesting for a walk on the way to the shops near the water.

Every evening, we go to the Malecon for our mile-walk (a round trip, end-to-end, is one mile. There is always somebody making music, somebody laughing, children playing, kids bicycling on the bicycle-skateboard court, and usually a game of basketball or badminton. The view across the lake of Mt. Garcia reminds me of Bali. We could be so many places in... More

Take a stroll and enjoy children playing, parents spending time with their children, people walking their dogs and many friendly smiles and greetings. Delightful.

I lived half-time in Ajijic for twelve years and am now full-time in Ajijic for an additional twelve. The addition of the malecon has been quite welcome. It refurbished the area, provides a delightful walk and is a very good location for meeting all sorts of people. It's very easy, not particularly crowded, and is a good location for walking... More
