Quaint little village setup with wood burning pizza, ice cream, candy/chocolate, etc shops. You can see a historic church as well as an authentic barn (now used for arts/crafts sales). If in the area (for example if visiting Green Gables), check it out. Free to visit.

This village has changed since last year and now is just a group of little shops. I didn't find anything there to interest me. The church however still puts on Celidhs at night in the summer and they are worth going to. My girl friends and I really loved the one we attended.

It's just a bunch of little shops, and while that's okay we were hoping for a little more than shopping. The coffee house was the highlight. If you're pushing a stroller it's very easy, but inside the shops was too cramped for it to go inside. A lot of junky tourist things, but a bit of local art and craft... More

This is no longer an interactive village. There was not enough attendance last year (because they charged admission), so there are no longer any of the actors that made this special. Admission to walk around the buildings is now free. The buildings have all been changed into shops or restaurants. The church is the same and there are musical performances... More

Avonlea Village is a very nice walk through with some cute shops and a great candy store. There are a couple of nice places to eat when you wish a change from your seafood diet.

I thought this would have more people here in costume. It was just a bunch of shops. We did get our first sample of Cow's ice cream and we did buy some art. If we were back in the area again, I doubt we would stop.

It's just a bunch of stores and little restaurants where everything is way overpriced. The only cute thing was the church on the property. I would rather pay an admission and have the experience of the actors there then just having what is there now. It was such a waste of time....if you are thinking of going here, don't!

This place was like a ghost town now when I visited. No more live characters. Nothing for children to do. Even the swings and see saws are gone. There are just overpriced stores and restaurants. Nothing of historical value left. I used to love going with family every summer. What next - will they turn the church into a condo???... More

Gone are the actors in period costume, the plays, the period village immersion experience, and any relevance to the works of L M Montgomery. In their place shops and restaurants. The website still boasts of 3 heritage buildings: the 1876 schoolhouse, the 1906 Minister’s residence and the 1872 Historic Church. All shops now. No historical content at all. Very sad.... More

If I was to only rate the music and the pony rides, I would give Avonlea Village a rating of 5. However, the entertainment value has taken second place to the shops. I have fond memories of my children dancing in the barn and with Anne and the others in the parade, as well as dressing up and taking pictures.... More
