The park was lovely and the yurt was amazing but the trip to enjoy peaceful nature was completely ruined by construction work at the 2 campsites beside us. Large excavator/digging equipment, cement mixers and VERY loud generators pumping out water all over our campsite went on all day long! Started at 7:20 am on Oct. 12th when every camper around was sleeping. Couldn't even stay at the campsite as it was SO loud. Would have cancelled reservation had we known, but no information was given. Asked at Park Office and was just told it would continue all day the next day too. Really ruined the nature experience and the whole point of renting a yurt in the fall when it's more quiet at the park. Not impressed by lack of response from Ontario Parks when email sent to them outlining our concerns and how it could have been handled better.

We went with our two kids for March break to yurt camp twice. Unfortunately we were unlucky with the where we were situated and with the weather both times.

In March 2022 we had the bad luck of being next to a cabin under construction. All the loud banging that went until after 6 PM in the daytime took away from the quiet experience we were hoping for. Also, the weather was warm making it too slushy to skate or snowshoe.
March 2023 was the worst experience and we left after only 1 night. The outdoor skating didn’t open at all last winter. That was a disappointment and it limited our options for activities. However, the main reason we left was neighbours across from us. They were two people and a few large dogs living out of a utility trailer and they seemed to be struggling in many ways….They didn’t seem very well able to watch their large dogs or to pick up after them. It wasn’t comfortable having our kids play outside the yurt due to these neighbours as they didn’t seem conscious of how to behave around children. We packed up early and I doubt we will be back. I sent a message to the park staff saying we were leaving early and suggesting perhaps they might check in on those campers. We saw other families who seemed to be having a nice time at their campsites while we walked around the park. Hopefully other campers will have a better time than we did. It had a lot of potential.

McGregor Point is a beautiful, shady and comfortable park on the shores of Lake Huron. We had a tent, and a private campsite in the tent area, as we did not need electricity.
We went to the Park Store for delicious ice cream, and we went to the Nature Centre where we walked out on the boardwalk to see the sunset.

Swimming was better in Port Elgin, as there is a nice sandy beach there with all the amenities of chairs, showers and change areas.
We had a wonderful experience in McGregor Park

To date this one of my favourite parks. We visited here last September and were pleasantly surprised by the size of the campsites in the Huron Campground.

There is plenty to do in the park from swimming, hiking, and renting bikes.

In comparison to other provincial parks, this one offers more privacy between campsites.

A must-do for all camp lovers.

We walked the Tower Trail in September 2015, and this was a great introduction to MacGregor Point Provincial Park. A second visit four years later did not disappoint. This time we went to the shoreline and walked part of the Huron Fringe Trail.

Fantastic provincial park! Very beautiful and well taken care of. The campsites were large and had some privacy- lots of tree coverage for shade. Noise was never an issue during our stay, with people having a good time but being respectful of those around them. We liked that there were 2 lanes when entering the park (I had mentioned this being a problem at another provincial park) so one lane was for campers already registered to quickly enter, while the other was for people arriving or who had questions. Washrooms were pretty well taken care of- definitely better than in previous years, so you can tell they are making an effort for covid, but still room for improvement. We will definitely return here next year!

MacGregor Point provincial park is a hidden gem. We spent a day there cycling the many trails. I would highly recommend the old shore road trail. This is a 6-8 km long trail basically along the waterfront that takes you to many secluded beaches ponds and boardwalks. The staff is awesome very helpful. They also have a local bear population that live in the park and outside towards Bruce Power plant.
Highly recommended.

We camped there this past weekend. The sites were small but private. Lots of great trails, and clean bathrooms. However, I have never experienced such over zealous rangers before.

They came twice, between 11:15 and 11:30. We were talking in normal tone around the campfire , no music, all adults. They said only whispering was allowed at that time, and if they had to come back, they would ticket us. They acknowledged we were speaking in a regular tone, but said the whole park was asleep, so we had to whisper??? Never had this before. The night before, they shone a light in the kids tent because they were laughing, and told them to quiet down. Seems like enforced bedtime, not quiet time.

Beautiful park with easy trails that offer spectacular views. Worth the money and effort . Only completed a fraction the trails it had to offer..couldn't make it past the spectacular views. Clean park and well identified markers.

My boyfriend and I stayed for 4 nights (Canada Day long weekend) and there were some good things and not so good things about this park. Let's start with the good things...

The park itself is quite beautiful, lots of trees (one would hope when camping) all the amenities you need are at the park, our site was located near a water tap and the comfort station. For the most part the park was very quiet, and was booked pretty solid, I think there were a few sites free though where we were located. There are plenty of hiking and biking trails which is great and they provide plenty of scenery as well. Overall we had a pretty great stay we made the most of what we had there, the weather was great (there were 2 short lived thunderstorms but nothing crazy!).

So some of the negatives, the comfort station we had was pretty gross all weekend long, yes they came to clean it but as soon as they mopped the floors and someone walked in there the floor was dirty again. The showers were really gross, one of them had a ton of earwigs roaming around and a bunch of dead ones - it was like no one ever cleaned these showers. For the most part we used the vault toilets (outhouses) they may have had a slight odor to them but they were cleaner than the comfort station.
The firewood...did they raise rates from last year?? When we went last year to Awenda, we only paid $4 a large bag and $3.50 for kindling, this year it was $7 for a bag of wood and $4 for a bag of kindling...and not only that but wood was super wet, all of it...so hard to start and keep a fire going...it seemed everyone at the park had wet wood as we walked around when people had fires going and there was a ton of smoke...
The beach...not worth going to. We walked to it from our site, saw how scummy and gross the water was and walked away. It's like they built the beach out of marshland, a ton of weeds sticking up on either side of the beach in the water and it smelled like a marsh. Thankfully Port Elgin is a 5 minute drive away and had a much nicer beach.
Also I found our actual campsite was quite small, you would never be able to fit more than one car at the site or more than one tent as we had, sure you could squash in two tents but then you wouldn't be able to park and have dining. Along with that the lack of tall trees around our site made it almost impossible to put up a tarp, and because of the huge amount of poison ivy growing everywhere traipsing through the bush to tie up rope wasn't really an option.

It may sound like things were terrible but they really weren't they were more things that we were not satisfied with. We still had a great weekend and enjoyed ourselves. However with that said we would not likely ever return to this park.
