Cape Smokey was more of a place to see rather than a place to go for us on our visit and I am not certain if you are able to actually go out on the Cape. It is so visually beautiful as you come up from the South or as you view it from the Keltic Lodge or north. The... More

We were lucky with the weather, so we managed to do a good variety of hikes. Lots to see around here and lovely beaches.

The place indeed is very beautiful, however the people saying that the road is dangerous either must be joking or have simply never driving on a winding road. it may be dangerous to a novice driver or perhaps on a densely foggy day. its a fun easy drive.

My husband and I happened upon Cape Smokey on a beautiful sunny day in October. We stopped at the lookout, ate our lunch at one of the picnic tables provided for visitors, used the washroom facilities, and then went for a short walk along one of the trails leading to a alternate lookout point over the ocean. Pictures can never... More

Cape Smokey is one of the highest points along the shoreline of Cape Breton and the climb up the side of the mountain can leave you wondering if it will ever end. Your car will make it *lol*

After reading all the multitude of views my wife and I took turns deciding who would be the driver. After much discussion it was up to me to do the driving. After driving Highway 1 along the California shore on many occasions it seemed to me that Cape Smokey was a piece of cake in comparison. Had no trouble what... More

The weather on that day was not the best for Cabot Trail - drizzling rain and gloomy, but it was our last day there and we had no choice but going throw cape smokey to Ingonish. It is quite hilly area and the fog covered it completely, I mean, forget about the view - we couldn't see anything 10 feet... More

Attractive stopping point on the drive. You can't miss it and it will be one of many stops you make. Others are equally attractive.
