Kidston's Island and Lighthouse is just off the Government Wharf in the center of the village of Baddeck. The island is a focal point for sailors and tourists alike. There is a small ferry that runs from the government wharf over to the island approximately every 45min to an hour to take passengers over and back as needed. One the... More

The ferry never arrived! We waited and waited and waited and when the two young guys did return from Kidston Island they said sorry we are going to lunch! We could see the ferry boat docked over at Kidston Island but they never bothered to come back to the Baddeck side and see if there were any passengers waiting -... More

We enjoyed the views of this beautiful little lighthouse from across the harbor in Baddeck. The scenery is idyllic with boats sailing by.

Whenever we're in Baddeck, we almost always anchor in the anchorage off Kidston Island. A small passenger shuttle/ferry will take people out to the Island from the wharf (about a 400-yard trip) where you'll find a sandy, supervised beach. As has been mentioned previously, a good pair of walking or hiking shoes would not be considered a luxury.

Kidston island is fun. There is a small ferry and a beach. We brought over some tea and sat on the beach.

Kidston Island, known for its lighthouse is made up of a small woods and cozy sandy beach complete with lifeguard. A shuttle boat transported us over to the island free of charge, no reservations needed. It departs from the local wharf right behind the charming Kidston Landing Boutique filled will local arts and crafts. Besides taking the short hike to... More

This is a good place to go if you want to swim, especially with kids. There is a short loop trail with some nice water views. The lighthouse is not open for viewing.

Loved this store!!! The owner was there and helped find a Canadian flag made of wood to hang on a post at the beginning of our driveway. The sign was made in Canada - no China product here!!!
