Skipper Bruce is a fantastic ambassador for the Trinity area and for Newfoundland in general. I was looking forward to his tour without knowing what to expect but it far surpassed anything I could have imagined. He has incredible knowledge, treats you like an old friend and by the time you leave, you are one. He provides some great historical... More

We had a great time with Bruce learning about life in the old ports and the effect of the fishing moratorium on the locals. Through stories and photograph Bruce draws a very real picture of life as it was. Informative, exciting and a great way to see the harbour!

There are any number of skilled seamen who can take you out on a tour of the Newfoundland coastline but what makes this experience unique is the skipper, Bruce Miller. He is a true Newfoundlander: outspoken, passionate about his history and very knowledgeable about the fishery that was once Newfoundland - it is a true lesson in the history of... More

A very enjoyable, entertaining and interesting way to see the area and start to understand some of its history. Bruce is a great host and I would recommend his tour to anyone. Fantastic - the highlight of our trip to Trinity Bight.

Bruce Miller and his personalized tour of the "Lost communities" as well as the opportunity to get out and see the land and sea from the open boat was an outstanding day. Tea at his cottage and the stories were wonderful and since we were on the last day of the open fishery-- the chance to catch a few cod... More

My group travelled to this area recently and the highlight of our trip was Bruce Miller! His account of the Newfoundland post-moratorium diaspora and the "lost" communties where he grew up, learned to fish and hunt and live within th Rugged Beauty of this area was not to be missed. Bruce and his brother Brian were gracious and thoughtful hosts... More

Bruce Miller has structured his tour of a small part of Trinity Bay around Canada's policy or "resettling" a portion of Newfoundland's population in the 1960's. The tour takes you to the location of communities that no longer exist because the populations were offered financial incentives to move elsewhere and be "centralized" in areas where it is more efficient to... I think we all feel that we are friends of Bruce’s when we get off his boat. It is now two months later and we still talk about all we learned on Bruce’s boat. It was a lovely ride on the ocean and to the islands and even to Bruce’s camp where we had tea and cookies. But the best... More

By going on this trip, you are signing up for much more than just another boat tour. Besides going on a thrilling boat ride, you are treated to rich stories of local history and the movement of the communities around the area, a break for tea at Captain Bruce's cabin (btw, excellent blueberry picking near the cabin in August) and...
