Skerwink is a loop trail, best approached from East Trinity (park by the church). The trail follows an old railroad bed for a short distance, then heads around the east side of the peninsula. Shortly it arrives at the cliff edge and finds a way through a short wind-sculpted forest. Volunteer labor has created stairs and wooden walkways through the... more

We stayed at Fishers' Loft Inn, close to the trail, and spent an enjoyable afternoon walking and gawking on this world class hiking/walking trail. It is so well positioned and maintained.....some climbs, mostly with stairs, but easily doable with care. Well worth the effort for the spectacular views of forest, cliffs, and seascapes. more

Some sections skirt some very high cliffs, but there is an "inland" trail for those who don't enjoy heights. I'm not fond of heights, but I was able to do the trail along the cliffs without too much... more

The Skerwink Trail was one of the hikes we were looking forward to during our recent trip. We hiked in Gros Morne earlier in the week, but really preferred Skerwink. Gently winding through the forest, with frequent openings that look out over the ocean. There is even a bench at the halfway point so you can have a picnic if... more
