Stubs island recently provided water taxi service during the disruption of ferry services due to the dock replacement in Powell River. By chance we did see whales during some of the crossings, the staff were obviously in their element sharing their knowledge with us. What an awesome experience, the people were very friendly and cheerful. Excellent service! Looking forward to... More

On our recent stay at Telegraph Cove we had four outings on the Stubbs Island whale watching tour, both morning and afternoon for two days. We enjoyed it more when there were less people on board, giving us more room for viewing and photos, but it is a good day out regardless. We were very disappointed that on these trips... More

My daughter and I took a multi-day sea kayaking trip in Johnstone Straight and did the Stubbs trip the day before leaving. It was fabulous and we were very glad we did the Stubb trip first as it was a great orientation to the area and offered wildlife viewing at very close ranges. We saw several humpback whales and a... These guys told us they'd had a poor tourist season, but they went out of their way to tell us how appreciative they were that we had chosen them for this tour. The guides had many years of experience in this area and it wasn't long before they lead us to the Whales. On this day it was really misty... More

Unfortunately the day we had booked was very foggy. We managed to locate an individual orca and later a family group came through the fog quite close to the boat so were got a good view in spite of the fog. We also saw Stella sealions, dolphins and porpoise + eggyolk jellyfish. The information given on the orcas during the... More

We had a great afternoon, blue skies and calm waters. Saw an eagle and a kingfisher even before we left cove. We were surrounded by hump back whales and even saw one breach. Lots of photos of whale tales. The crew was great and identified some of the whales for us. We even saw a pod of dolphins before returning.... More

We went on an afternoon whale watching trip on Sept 16 2013 and drove about 3 1/2 hours to get there from where we stayed. It was a rainy morning, and the forecast wasn't great for the rest of the day, but we took a chance on the weather and made the drive from Parksville. It was a fabulous trip... More

Stubbs was organized and provided good accommodations for whale watching. Making a reservation was easy and directions to the place were complete. We were just disappointed that we saw no orcas and not too many humpbacks, but we did see some.
