We visit the Coombs area quite frequently and the Butterfly gardens are one of my least favourite activities. Yes, there are some colorful butterflies, plants, reptiles, birds signs. Perhaps this is interesting to children or first time visitors to a butterfly exhibit, it just didn't do much for me after visiting similar gardens. Cost $13 for adults, $5 for children... More

We checked online yesterday (Oct. 15th) and the web-site told us Butterfly World was open from 10 to 4. We took our excited 3-year old grandson and were met with a closed gate. No signs, nothing. That's very poor customer service.

The butterflies were beautiful and we enjoyed our time interacting with and photographing them. There is lots of informative plaques providing descriptions of the various butterflies and other animals. They had 2 large tortoises (1 in the main room and 1 in the orchid room) as well as a second small tortoise in the main room. There was also a... More

Very much enjoyed this exhibit. The butterflies were so interesting to watch. There are lots of signs and photos to explain the various types. Loved watching the tortoise. The orchid room was a great spot for photographing. Couldn't access washroom from inside which makes it difficult for people with mobility issues such as myself. Overall a great way to relax... We have an 18 month old that loves, loves, loves butterflies, and this place did not disappoint. The main room inside (translucent high roof, really great light) is filled with the most incredible butterflies... hundreds, flying everywhere and swarming around some bushes in particular. You could get up close to almost all and see the incredible variety in colours and... More

We were staying in parksville and decided to drive to coombs for the day. The little town is almost gone. They have moved all the stores out , was told that the buildings were old. So we went to Butterfly Gardens. It was $13 per adult I think. There is a large green house with beautiful plants. and butterflies flying... More

Gorgeous butterflies and gardens. It was quite tropical inside as they live in a rainforest habitat. Difficult to photograph as the butterflies seldom land for any more than a few seconds.

We checked out of our hotel early so we'd have a chance to check out the butterflies. As it were, we were too early, but the man on site allowed us to explore the wonder at our leisure. So many opportunities to get so many great shots! But be warned the Blue Morphs are so plentiful but elusive! Was wonderful,... More

Went yesterday with a friend. We really enjoyed taking pictures of as many different butterflies as possible. Really warm inside - I would not recommend on a hot summers day.
