Anita and I went up to a family reunion in the area and after driving by the very easy to miss hand-painted sign for the hundredth time, we decided this was the day to make the turn. It was so much fun and completely addicting. Be ready to watch the obsession unfold, just seeing what other folks found was a... More

We went here with our 3 kids (11,9,7) and had a great time. The day was really hot and we still managed to stay out there for 3 hours. Keep in mind that you drive up a hill to the parking spot and then it is quite a hike (10 mins) up to the fossil beds. Sunscreen, hats and water... More

Great and almost unique experience. A helpful and knowledgeable guide shows you where to get your rocks, what to look for, how to open them and tells you what the fossils are. We had fun going to this fossil bed. It wasn't that hard to find, and is open everyday in the summer (I believe). We didn't have to track anyone down, John, one of the owners was there and Dave, another owner, came later. They gave us a very interesting intro talk and helped us find fossils. John especially was charming,... More

McAbee Fossil Beds are located east of Cache Creek, British Columbia, Canada, near Kamloops. The land is owned by Dave Langevin. He is a great guy and seems to enjoy meeting people and helping them pull fossils out of his mountain. Reservations are required because Dave isn't out there all the time. It was a little tricky to find the... More
