Built in the Depression, with stone and wood that cannot be found any longer with this quality, it is a wonder to behold in every respect.

Most recently I visited the State Capitol for the Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony. The ceremony was very nice. But the building is amazing. The art deco style is beautifully done. I took a tour a year or so ago and since then have had a greater appreciation for the design and materials used in the building. And it feels so... More

People were rude, the sidewalks are not maintained well. Not much to see, so spend your time here looking at other things.

I love this building!! I have visited a number of times, and taken the tour (free) twice!! It is a great art deco building, with beautiful finishes and fixtures. The hall of fame in the lower level is kind of hokey, but I still love it!! Go to level 1 for a grand view! Do take the tour, you get... More

We didn't wait until #50 to include North Dakota in our Capitol tour (seems there's a Tshirt for that since so many conclude with ND). This one of only a few modern looking capitol buildings (no rotunda). But is wonderfully art deco. And the view - the folks of North Dakota have done right by their green space surrounding the... We just road past it - different than many state capitol buildings and the museum looks good although we did not have time to visit it.

I visited Bismarck for the first time and wanted to see the State Capitol building. The building is the tallest one in Bismarck. It has been erected in the 1930s following a fire that destroyed the old State Capitol building. The tour guide, Darlene, took us to see the House and the Senate rooms and gave the information on the... More

Our tour guide was fantastic in explaining the background of the building. We learned that there are only 4 skyscraper capitals and was built this way to maximize use. The marble and wood used is breathtaking. To see the House, Senate and Supreme Court rooms was cool. We are trying to see all 50 and this one was a pleasant... More

Not the typical ancient dome covered ornate building, but still well done. After seeing the roll-a-round office chairs, I couldn't help but appreciate the mix of traditional desk and modern comfort. There is an observation deck available by elevator. Take a few minuets to look over the old photographs and to appreciate the very sturdy and attractive wicker furniture. There... More
