We very much enjoyed our visit to the North Dakota Heritage Center. This museum seems to do everything right. Exhibits are well lit with informative and readable explanatory text, the space itself is beautiful, and the volunteer manning the front desk couldn't have been friendlier. There are numerous opportunities for interaction with the exhibits many of which would be especially... More

Disclaimer: Three exhibits or it might be four are closed until the Fall so maybe it would have been better if other galleries were open or maybe not. They have a movie that is showing. When we went it was talking about ND politics. On another note, this place is free so maybe there is a reason why it is... More

This free center has a large number of exhibits highlighting the evolution of climate and social changes in North Dakota. Who have thought that the climate was similar to the Florida Everglades...60 million years ago. Additionally, there are a number of displays highlighting the history of North Dakota's native peoples. Don't miss the movie theater, which shows shorts on historically... More

Bismarck was one of the places my wife and I stopped on our 10 day trip through the Dakotas. We decided to stop here since both of us are interested in history and we stayed in an area hotel the night before. This museum had two exhibit areas open and will have two more areas opening toward the end of... More

We visited the museum for the first time after the renovation on Father's Day. There was no admission fee, no parking fee and lots of Native American artifacts to see. The dinosaurs and fossils were exciting to see. A couple exhibits were not open, but cant wait to visit when they are open. Wish they had tour guides or exhibit... More

The numerous exhibits are interesting and informative. Everyone was fascinated with the dinosaur bones. Very helpful museum personnel. No admission fee. Free parking. A must see on any visit to Bismarck.

The Heritage Center recently re-opened with two new exhibits (and two more to come this fall). The new exhibits are focused on native life and prehistory. The museum did a great job of creating spaces that could engage young and old alike. We spent more than half a day in the two exhibits and would go again and again. Well... More

We had a great time at the Heritage Center. The space is filled with Native American history. The kids will love coming here - they have two teepees and lots of dinosaurs . Some of the areas will not be open until November 2 but it is still worth the trip. Admission is free.

The "new" Heritage Center is marvelous. Awe-inspiring architecture, jaw-dropping displays. It's made to explore. Love it!
