We really enjoyed the dinosaur fossils. They included a partially dug up one so you could see it in its natural habitat. I like the way they showed you what you were looking at. Nicely done. They show the history from way way back to current day in different sections. Still amazed it is free. Located right by capital building... More

A pleasant surprise! This museum has lots to see & is well laid out. We could have spent much more time here. The dinosaur area is amazing as is the underwater area. Found great local art work in the gift shop. Don't miss this when visiting Bismarck. It's close to the Capitol so you can see 2 great places in... More

This is a can't miss attraction while visiting Bismarck. The center is laid out in four galleries so you can decide where to spend your time. The dinosaur section lays a great foundation for understanding the development of North Dakota. The second gallery is devoted to Native Americans and their journey alongside the settlers. Visit the current gallery for information... More

I loved the newly built editions----the displays are well arranged and there's a better flow to the walk- through. The idea of the interactive displays for kids is cool, but one of the quilt ones had magnetic tiles that were...already wet? Kinda gross. I do recommend it to anyone passing through who likes history, dinosaurs and fossils, a totally cool... More

I recently took a bus full of people from age 10-80 to this museum and they all loved it. We were there for 2 1/2 hours and saw most of it. From the large dinosaurs, to the North Dakota collections of items, this place will satisfy everyone. I highly recommend visiting this place. They have guides to ask questions of... More

This is a fantastic museum. I cannot say enough about the varied collections, the way they are displayed. Fun for kids, too.

If you're in Bismarck, you must stop by this beautiful State Capital and Heritage Center, there's something for everyone. The children and adults alike are entertained and educated to the History of ND and it's people, including those that called it home and one of the most beautiful places on earth. Teddy Roosevelt, Medora was his second home, Sakakawea or... More
