5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 24, 2015 NEW

My family lives here in town, and we have been there multiple times. Every time we stop, I find something I missed. There is so much to see, especially with the new galleries. I truly love this place. The history just flows out of it. The displays are amazing! The only negative thing I could even think to say would... More

Newly expanded, beautifully done. Worth a days visit. A wonderful and full history of North Dakota from the dinosaur time to Indian time to the oil patch. Bring the kids they will love it. Special events for them. Best of all it is FREE.

The ND Heritage Center, which is effectively the state museum, recently completed a renovation and significant expansion. If you saw it before the expansion, you will not recognize it now. Considerably larger, with four different exhibition halls, it is most definitely worth a stop by anyone visiting or passing through Bismarck. The people behind the expansion should feel very proud... The old Heritage Center was good for history fans. The new ly expanded heritage center is much larger and more interactive. It has something for everyone including those who nare not too interested in history.

My sister and her kids and I went to this while my brother was sitting in at the meetings at the capitol and it was undeniably wonderful! From the front desk attendants to the displays, to everything, it was incredible. The kids loved it. My sister and I loved it! Highly recommend to everyone!

A free museum in most places is rare. A free museum of this quality is astounding. Maybe it's the oil money, but this is one of the best free museums I've been to in the whole USA. Very well done.

This place is actually super cool for adults or grandparents and young kids/early teenagers. It really does have some fun stuff for all ages and they are expanding and making it nicer even!

This recently completed state history museum is a large modern building with a series of themed exhibit rooms that include natural history, Native American history, Euro-American settlement and 20th century development. I stopped only for a brief time and will return next time I'm in Bismarck. Admission is free with donations accepted.

Five stars, two enthusiastic thumbs up, a standing ovation. Way to go Bismarck!! Seriously - the newly remodeled Heritage Center is fantastic. It's spacious, modern, interactive, educational and engaging. We were there for several hours and could have stayed for several more! I'm a Bismarck native and have been to the Heritage Center many times in my life - it... More
