Great area for families. There isn't much in the way of commercial development which is a good thing. It gets a little tight on the main drag between traffic, vehicles park along the road and bicycles so slow down, take your time and enjoy your surroundings. A few places to eat, get ice cream and have a few cold ones,... More

One of the South's first 19th Century beaches, Wrightsville has the rare advantage of contiguity to a modern city. Tranquility, wide sand, soothing surf, and modest tourism make this charming island a real gem.

Excellent if the weather is nice ~ great for 2.5 years old. Maybe find the hotel right on the beach to save time & get ride of sand ..

Found this beach area to be very quiet and loved that it was not completely covered with hotels. Just a few on the beach and the rest were personal homes.

There isn't much commercial development so the beach is not too crowded. We found a lot of families and it was very nice to walk a couple miles.

Just beautiful! Enjoy the sun and surf or take a walk on the gorgeous sandy shore. In the winter watch for Dolphins, or just sit and relax. Parking meters and no dogs during most of the year.

As far as I'm concerned it's one of the best beaches in the world...great wave action for boogy boards but not too much. We do a week long beach rental almost annually to visit family/friends in Wilmington. Having a beach rental versus day trips to this beach makes a big difference. Parking for day trip means walking a distance to... More
