Wrightsville Beach is a great mix of family, college students and locals who have a unique culture and you can distinguish the hardcore from the transient based on how many times you go across the bridge over to Wilmington. Parking has become very limited but that doesn't deter folks from parking on Harbor Isle and trekking it across either side... More

Wrightsville used to be my home, now it is my home away from home. You'll notice the entire stretch of barrier island isn't at all overdeveloped and still embraces the old beach resort charm. Rental homes still stand at attention behind the protected dunes. I love to take long beach walks and Wrightsville offers plenty of sand-and-sea-induced rejuvenation. Lifeguards are... More

Excellent beach to visit if you are on the east coast. Very clean and family friendly. Nothing like Myrtle Beach. Which I see as a plus. Parking is minimal in the summer.

Gorgeous beach! Very large clean sand area as far as the eye can see. The concrete fishing pier is the largest I've ever seen in person. Impressive in itself.

We have been coming to Wrightsville Beach since 1960 when I was a kid and still get here 2 times a year. There are a lot of other beaches we love and also go to each year, but there is only 1 Wrightsville. The combination of small, upscale, sense of community, athletic fields, the loop, clean, restaurants, great sand and clear warm water make for the perfect beach environment.The... October...what a wonderful time of year to be at the beach. The weather is cooler but still comfortable to sit outside and take walks on the beach without being too hot. The water is definitely swimmable if the outside temps. aren't too low or waves to rough. We love being here this time of year !

This is one of my favorite beaches in NC. Not too commercialized but good restaurants and lodging are easy to find.

Wrightsville beach is a very nice beach, however, hotels have really built up close to the shore. So even though all beaches in NC are public beaches, because of the buildings near the beach it may be difficult to access the beach at all locations and the view from the beach is cluttered with buildings.. I prefer the more natural,... More

Both the South End and North End have undeveloped peninsula's where you'll find sand dunes and 180 degree views of the waterways. It's common to see surf fishermen and surfers. From Oct 1 to March 31, the beaches are pet friendly. The beach is clean with a mix of powder white sandy by the dunes and hard sand by the... More
