We had a private tour for our family of 12, including three 9 yr. olds. Capt. Joe and his first mate (Kirk - I think) were terrific. The sunset tour was very relaxing and informative at the same time. They provided a 'behind the beach' tour filled with WB facts, water fowl and fishing information. They patiently answered the kid's... More

I took my children, 4 and 6, on the Pirate cruise offered by this company. I would not recommend this trip. The boat is a pontoon boat with plastic chairs set up on the deck. A costumed and rather salty-looking pirate sits at the front, and all the children sit silently around him. I know that pirate had some interesting... More

Great personal and personalized service. We called Capt Joe and said we wanted to go out to Masonboro Island sometime in the next few days. He checked the weather and tide charts and suggested when we should go for seclusion and good shell hunting. He took us out to the island and asked when we wanted to be picked up.... More

We (my husband and I)had a wonderful low-tide tour (3pm) of shorebirds and saw close to 20 different ones. Cap't Joe is an ornithologist and is very knowledgeable about birds and the area ecology. We went down the coastal inlet to Masonboro Island.

The sunset tour turned out to be a ride around marinas listening to the cost of various boats and how much the houses were worth. Yea. I'd assume by the other comments the more focused excursions would offer more, but this trip, although pleasant, wasn't really worth the time.

We took our son's family (4 children 2-11 years) on the pirate tour to Masonboro Island. We had a great time especially the 6 year old boy. Following the pirate, searching for, and finding a treasure fascinated him and his 4 year old sister. A lovely beach to search for shells. I plan to try the birding trip in the... More

He was very accommodating on short notice, and provided a fun and informative tour of the inlets and creeks at Wrightsville Beach, in a small boat with just the 2 of us. Hope to have more time for a proper Masonboro Island visit in the future.

If you are looking for a fun activity for a morning out on the water with your family, I highly recommend Captain Joe and Wrightsville Beach Scenic Tours. We took our first trip with Captain Joe about 5 years ago. We booked the tour of uninhabited Masonboro Island with Captain Joe for my 13 year old daughter, a budding marine... More

My husband and I found a brochure for the sunset tours at the real estate company that we rented our condo from. I called and made a reservation with captain Joe. I was concerned about the weather because the radar was showing a bunch of storms and he was very nice on reassuring the possibility of rescheduling if something came... More

My boyfriend and I decided to spend a day at Masonboro Island during our recent weekend in Wilmington, but we weren't sure how to get there since it is boat access only. I came across Wrightsville Beach Scenic Tours online and emailed to reserve a spot on the 12:30pm ferry. I was worried there might not be space since it... More
