We have made a couple trips to this location since we found it several months ago. This area has beautiful plants and is a great place to take photos! My daughter loves feeding the fish in the pond and visiting the cute little kids playhouse. Be sure to walk the entire area--it is a short walk but worth it to... More

It was a lot smaller than I expected it to be, but it was beautiful. I decided to stop by on my last night in Wilmington and look around for a bit. The flowers were in full bloom, and it was absolutely gorgeous. The small Japanese tea house was great and the feeding the koi fish was wonderful, I got... More

It was beautiful! The garden were very pretty, the staff was so kind and friendly, and it was FREE! We had a great time looking at the flowers, walking through the tea house, playing in the kids garden and feeding the koi fish.

I visited the Arboretum once as a child, and for years it fueled magical dreams about enchanted lands and mythical creatures. I know that sounds exaggerated, but you would have to experience this place as a child. Everything is to scale for a child, and although it seems small now as an adult, it was it's own universe as a... More

Our two families totaling 4 adults and 8 kids ranging in age from 5 to 15 decided to stop at the Arboretum on June 16th on our way into Wilmington. Despite the collective groans from the kids about the prospect of walking around looking at flowers and trees, we stopped to take a look around and we are so glad... More

The property is well cared for and the flowers are beautiful. It only takes a short time to visit but well worth the stop.

My husband & I decided to explore Wilmington and wanted to do something that was cheap. I had seen a review on here about New Hanover County Arboretum and found out that it was free. We absolutely loved it and we thought it was very peaceful and very beautiful.

One of my favorite things to do at the Arboretum is to sit quietly on the rush mat inside the Japanese tea house and listen to the waterfall and the birds. The Japanese garden has filled out nicely the last few years. The Arboretum also has a wonderful koi pond, children's garden, rose garden, tons of azaleas and a bog... More

This is a great FREE place to spend some time strolling the gardens, and relaxing in the grass with a picnic. We went after Mother's Day lunch for photos, and there were hardly any other guests there. A very quiet and peaceful place to take in the sites, sounds, and smells of Spring. Especially loved the Japanese Garden and fish... More

This is not your grandmother's county agricultural extension service, although that is co-located at the Arboretum. A lot of thought and hard work has gone into organizing the themes and displays. Vegetable gardens, turf gardens, an Asian theme, a water habitat, a pond stocked with carp and koi fish, a rose garden and a children's area are just a fraction... More
