Such a pretty place to just wander, stroll or stop to smell the flowers. Rich with the beauty of extraordinary vibrant colors for any photo opportunity. Can easily be done in an hour and a half if you just want to walk and enjoy the view. If your planning on taking pictures, plan for good 4 hours or so. Once... More

Beautiful property with history and a relaxing activity for any day of the week. Loved the grounds, views and open space. Recommend to anyone in the area to mix things up from the beach scene.

The gardens are full of green plants but not many colorful plants. Its a nice place to walk and enjoy shady areas. I have seen better and if you have some free time you might give it a try.

I loved Airlie Gardens! There is a nominal fee. You're given a map and off you explore. There is a 467 year old Oak tree, which is a marvel to see. There are elaborate and fun sculptures throughout the gardens. The Glass Sculpture Garden is to behold and the butterfly house is so cool! There are formal gardens, a walking... More

This place is home to one of the biggest trees I have ever seen in my life. This thing was massive and it was so beautiful. We went in November so it was a little bit chilly out but it was a beautiful day not much was blooming but the gardens were still gorgeous. We were able to walk out... More

Beautiful, huge live oaks and flowers. Lots of information about waterfront habitats, birds, plants and critters. Cool old cemetery and neat metal sculptures. The bottle chapel was very interesting as was the butterfly garden. All in all a great way to spend a couple of hours in Wilmington. Inexpensive admission, too!

Airlie will entrance you with it's magnificent old oaks, variety of flowers, sculpture and tranquil marsh and water views. This is a great place to go if you are looking for a wide open space for a picnic or just to play and enjoy the beauty of nature. Airlie offers a variety of programs too, so be sure to check... Currently Airlie hosts a scavenger hunt throughout the gardens of a sculpture exhibit by Dumay Gorham III - huge metal insects supremely placed amidst the charming paths aptly named Guardians By The Sea. These amazing sculptures would look lovely permanently located at Airlie! Do see b/4 it leaves in Oct. Great way to play at learning and clever at getting... More

Went with my wife on a Sunday and enjoyed walking around. They have special events and if you are a resident of the county, you are allowed to visit free on the first Sunday of every month. They try to be involved in the community.

We visited early in the morning (the first guests to arrive) and we had the whole place to ourselves. The grounds are gorgeously maintained despite it being summer and all the blooms being gone. The greenery was fantastic.
