The Airlie Gardens are a nice quiet way to spend a sunny afternoon in the Wilmington area. Everything is well-maintained and there's plenty of variety for plant enthusiasts or just regular humans like myself. Lots of places to take a break and sit down and plenty of photo op spots too. That and lots of turtles won us over.

My daughter and I visited on a cool, cloudy day. This made the colors of the azaleas and other foliage so perfect to behold. We took some outstanding photos, but, I can see that any weather would do this place justice. There is a variety of things to see...the almost 500 year old oak, a pier, gazebo, small church, cemetery,... More

We were there before everything even bloomed and it was still gorgeous and breathtaking! I wish we lived closer... I would visit all the time!

We saw only tulips and daffodils in bloom, but a walk around Airlie is worth it any time of the year. Early morning visits are very peaceful.

This is such a beautiful time to visit Airlie Gardens. Thousands of tulips are in bloom and the azaleas too. It is a wonderful sight to behold. Each year the garden improves. It is so peaceful with great expanses of water and no one to disturb you except the swans.

The azaleas were not quite in full bloom, the camellias just past their prime, but this is a beautiful garden. If we lived locally, we would not hesitate to be members of the Airlie Gardens.

This was a tranquil place! Such a wonderful little escape. It's nice to see that there are still places that make conscious efforts to preserve land. The gardens were full of tulips and azaleas. It was early for everything to be in full bloom, but it was still worth going to. There were turtles sunbathing and swans out paddling around.... More

Although there were not many flowers in bloom, the setting was beautiful with all the water and trees. We saw a mother fox watching her babies play nearby. We saw a huge white swan nesting with her mate nearby and many turtles sitting on logs. We loved the bottle house and the way the garden was laid out with level... More

we are local....but my husband has some back problems and it's impossible for him to walk the whole way. During Christmas time...it's very pretty (from what I hear) but the "limited" tram that they do have...doesn't operate at night. It's a beautiful area....but I wish that the handicapped access was more.
