Loved the beautiful architecture; however, ample handicap parking is a problem. Streets are clean, business owners are very helpful and buyers can find unique gifts.

This was a surprise during a recent business trip. This area has been coverted to lots of great restaurants, bars, and shopping. The river is beautiful, overlooking the USS North Carolina. The River offers ferry and riverboat trips up and down the Cape Fear River. The area is also safe and there are several hotels that can allow visitors to... More

Always something going on in the historic district. Beautiful homes, gardens and history. Lovely shops, restaurants and a waterfront voted #1 in the country. Fun for kids, teens, college age , families and retirement!

Downtown Wilmington's historic district is full of beautiful old homes and churches. I love have early morning walks around town, and I felt perfectly safe walking alone to visit some of the mansions nearby that are now set up as historical museums. Most of the old homes are well kept, however it would be good to see some of them... More

I thought this would take the whole day and it only took about an hour to look around the historic district. So checked out the beaches instead.

We would go back-- drove through the historic district - looks like one could make a tour of the downtown churches/synagogue alone. No time; but great looking little bistros downtown - nice river walk. Would like to return.

Wilmington was spared the ravages of the Civil War, so one sees one historic home and building after another. Take the trolley to see many of the gorgeous old homes and hear some of the history, then tour inside one of the mansions. It isn't just Civil War history, but Revolutionary War history as well. Drive some of the side... More

I took the Ghost Walk tour through Wilmingtons Historic Riverfront. The tour guide was amazing with his knowledge of the areas history and he made the tour very enjoyable with his stories and humor.

I have visited Charleston, I have visited Savannah and I by far love our Wilmington NC historic district! Make sure to visit Bellamy Mansion and down town at the Cotton Exchange in your travels and stop in at the German Bakery at The Cotton Exchange and get some coffee and meander through the beautiful streets of Wilmington, NC!
