This was our first time in Wilmington, and we took the horse-drawn carriage ride to see some of the sights. The driver was very entertaining and knowledgable. There are blocks and blocks of historic home with National Historic Preservation plaques by their doors. A very beautiful neighborhood.

The good thing is about the historic district is that it is very easy to maneuver through and it is a very safe area. There are restaurants you... More

Great area to check out. You can walk along the water or through the historic area. There are a variety of restaurants. I recommend the Front Street Brewery. There are also stores and tours all there.

I liked the idea that there was so much history. I was never a history buff but learning about some of the historic events in Wilmington really made me want to know more.

The Verandas B&B, Burgwin-Wright home, Bellamy Manor, USS North Carolina, Southern cuisine, Market Street shopping and the Riverwalk were absolute hits!

Parking is very limited. Most places have good signs so that you know what you are looking at. It's nice to see things at your own pace.

Historic District is charming, well restored, feels safe, clean, lively atmosphere. Great for families, couples. College town with lots of students gives a great energy without being too extreme. Very interesting independent restaurants. Scenic beauty and activities.
