It was a quiet Sunday morning in mid summer. Perfect for a slow walk along the south end of the walkway that carries you over the beautiful Cape Fear River. The river was picturesque. No crowds. Quiet. Perfect.

Every historic site there has it's own plaque, so there is a lot of information; i guess to kids after a few plaques they were ready for me to be quiet and just keep on walking... Even so, historic buildings are fascinating to me, so they just had to hear all the stories.

We walked around and looked in many small shoppes. Had lunch in one of the many restaurants. Had ice cream at a place close to where the horse drawn trolley. That was good but it was hot and it was a fight to eat it before it melted. The waffle cone was made there in the shop it was very... More

We took a horse and buggy ride through the historic district and loved every minute. This area is also nice and fun (safe) to walk through. If you are a history buff you should put this on your to do list.

As soon as we got to Wilmington, we climbed aboard a horse drawn trolley ride. That was the best thing that we could have done. Our guide, Dan, was simply amazing, knowledable, and fun to be around. We saw so many things and learned so much about the area which helped shape our trip. We visited some of the places... More

We visited Wilmington to be close to different beaches, but didn't realize all the history in this town. The town is thriving with a mixture of new and old, this is a vibrant area and should be on anyone's list for a vacation.

Could spend a day here. Obviously not Savannah or Charleston, but it was much better than expected. There are plenty of historic markers to check out, neat old homes, and good food/drink. Sounds like a great weekend to me...

We visited Wilmington after doing some research on both the beaches and the city and we knew there wasn't a ton to do but we weren't looking to do a bunch of activities either. However, we were severely disappointed in downtown wilmington and the historic district. Maybe it was a bad night or an off weekend but there wasn't a... More

We did the trolley tour in the historical district and we enjoyed it and learned so much. We didn't dislike anything on the trolley tour.
