The historic district and the river walk area of Wilmington are an excellent walking tour option. The architecture is interesting and the river walk is great for seeing the river and the view of the battleship North Carolina is great. There is so much in the Wilmington Historic District that you can just walk to. Homes, museums, the historic river front....It is helpful to get a walking map etc. to find your way around. People are also very friendly...so just ask! A city with a part of our country's beginning...beautiful!

A plethora of restaurants, bars, waterfront views, historic homes and businesses, lots of music, friendly wait staff everywhere. You could spend a week downtown and not hit everything downtown has to offer!

enjoyed walking the local streets and the riverwalk area. Checked a couple of the local restaurants and bars while we were there. Ducked into a couple of the stores to shop for Christmas presents.

The area along the river estuary provided excellent views, abundant seating opportunities and an atmosphere I found refreshing. As we strolled through the district, we discovered wonderful shops and cafes, restaurants of all types and homes from at least the early nineteenth century. Residents and fellow tourists greeted each other frequently.

Wilmington's downtown has a rich history. We loved spending time downtown, checking out the restaurants, shops, and taking in the historic buildings. The surrounding antebellum homes were an added bonus.

Circa 1770 Colonial era site with a wonderful guided tour of interest to age groups ranging from elementary students to adults. My seven year old granddaughter was fascinated by everything and treated kindly by the knowledgable docent.

Wilmington, NC, is a beautiful historic city that has been "on the move" for several years. The historic area has enjoyed significant restoration, and is a very accommodating place to visit. The city enjoys a vibrant location on the Cape Fear river with an active cultural scene. Music is a prime draw, with many folk, jazz and R and B... More
