An amazing find in Downtown Wilmington!

My God, if you have ever been fascinated by toy trains and the big real ones, don't miss this museum. My family and I tour this whenever we are in Wilmington, maybe twice a year. Love the city and its museums, especially this one.

Many people go to Wilmington and have no idea this is there. I like to take my kids there to learn this history of the trains. It inexpensive and a great rainy day activity.

Our two-year old son has been a big fan of steam locomotives since his introduction in Lois Lenski's The Little Train. We all loved this museum, which included exhibits on the railroad history of the Wilmington area, as well as extensive (and interactive!) model train setups and a full-sized steam engine, box car, and caboose. We will certainly be stopping... More

My father is a train collector and just loved this museum! We just happened to walk into it on our way to the Cotton Exchange. There are many different rooms to wander through. There are some hands on exhibits as well as others that you cannot touch. There is a locomotive that you can climb on and a great place... More

Wonderful afternoon with my son's family, two boys under 12. We all enjoyed it. The boys loved hopping abroad the real train outside and I especially loved the replica of Wilmington train set. Well worth the entrance fee and something for everyone.

Stopped in here with family and was glad we had brought our 4 year old nephew. My dad is 79 and enjoyed watching the trains as much as the 4 year old did. There is a play area for kids indoors too. We found it a comfortable retreat from the hot humid day outside. Spent about 2 hours here. Very... More

Being somewhat of a train buff, I was surprised to find this museum during a summer business trip to Wilmington. Not the largest train museum I've ever been too, it was however quite interesting, and I spent well over an hour looking over both the interior and exterior displays. The highlight for me was the HO scale layout. It is... More

The locomotive sounds its horn at noon and you can walk around and see this entire historic location including the old railroad terminals. Not bad for a quick visit.

Took my visiting 6 year old grandson here and enjoyed ourselves way more than expected! Love that you can go in and out of the train cars and ring the bell! The inside has a huge miniature train room with moving trains traveling through a city--very entertaining! Great for people who are not even train buffs. Will definitely go back.... More
