Friendly staff, great information on ACL and basic unknown train information. Wonderful shop and great place for kids and train fanatics.

I took my family to Wilmington,NC and we visited the Railroad Museum. My dad was a foreman on the railroad. When we drove up he was exicited because he was able to tell his grandaughter about all the Engine and Kaboose that sat outside the building. He saw equipment he hasn't seen in years. The museum covered a lot of... More

Through the use of words, photos & models the history of Wilmington's railroad is explained. A large number of glass cases are filled with railroad items, stories about the Atlantic Coast Line. African-Americans contributions and the American civil war. There uniforns, & the inportance of the telegraph. In the Model Hall are a large number of different operating scale model... More

We popped into the museum and found it to be full of all the old fashioned train sets we remembered as kids. I enjoyed looking at all the nostalgic displays from a simpler time, especially the details of the old carnival rides and cars. Kids of all ages would enjoy this museum.

This was a fun experience for the kids and their grandfather. There are historical exhibits as well as a play room for the kids. They loved climbing in the caboose and train cars. Seemed a bit pricey perhaps though as smaller kids find limited appeal.

Overall we enjoyed seeing the trains, but though there would be a bit more for the price. I would not go again for the price, but I could see how someone who loves model trains might think the price was worth it.

We have been to train museums that have actual trains in them. This museum is very small so I knew it wouldn't be like that but I expected more than just toy trains. Most of them weren't even working at the time we were there. The outside displays were OK like the freight-hoppers being caught, an old engine, and the... More

Had some time to kill and saw the Railroad Museum so decided to give it a whirl. Some very nice exhibits inside and a caboose and old engine outside, but what revives the little kid in you is the huge model railroad layout, currently the Guinness world record holder for the largest layout of its kind. Cost was $9 each... More

The admission fee of $8.00 for Seniors is reasonable. The museum has a good display of antique toy trains, a top flight HO layout, featuring this area, a short historical section -- focused on the ACL and the Civil War. Some outside rolling stock completes it. There is a good kid section.

We went on a locals day and were happy with what we saw. The museum is for kids and adults. We liked the train cars the most.
