This museum was very interesting for adults and great fun for children as they could climb into the train cars and try out all the knobs and wheels. The staff is volunteer and very excited to share their great knowledge of the railroad in Wilmiington.

The museum was full of enough trains to interest most.. I'm not particularily a train lover and neither was my friend...but...our children each loved it!! I was sort of dreading it but the kids (both 6) had so much fun...it was great to watch them check out the huge displays with trains running...and play on the real trains! We definitely... More

For the kids and kids at heart, they have a lot of running model railroads, a nice railroad history exhibit and a lot of railroad "stuff".

If you are into model railways, this is definitely your place to visit with world's longest model railway. Again, if not, spend your time somewhere else.

There was so much to see and do at the Railroad Museum in Wilmington, NC. I was visiting family and the kids wanted to go. There was many, many interactive activities that were started with push buttons. The museum also had lots of children's toys available. I totally enjoyed walking through the historical collection from the railways of earlier years.

We had a fun time..great for model train enthusiasts...first class dioramas in the model room with several that are interactive. 2 or 3 full size train cars on site you can climb into. Very good displays, courteous and knowledgeable staff/volunteers.

This is not what I expected for a train museum. I thought there would be more REAL trains. Having been to Strasburg, Pa and Steamtown in Scranton PA I guess I expected more. This is more of a model train museum. They do have some train and train related items. The price of admission seemed high for a place we... More

This museum is located on the river front and is a great little place to take in. There are a few rail cars set up that depict how a Hobo would ride the rails!

It was a nice visit - didn't need that long there as the place is quite small. The price was steep considering the size. You could probably do it all in an hour. Interesting story's and local legends there though. Be a good place if your kids are into trains (can play a little there with the wooden sets) and... More

We took our train loving uncle (age 64) to the Wilmington Railroad Museum and he was in HEAVEN! Several real train pieces, such as, a caboose, an engine, and a boxcar complete with hobos outside. The inside had several rooms of displays with original uniforms, photos, dish sets, and much more memorabilia. There were two model trains set up in... More
