It was boys day out with my 7 year old son, so we went to the train museum. It was a interesting for me, seeing the town of Wilmington the way out wad in the past. The moving trains and model were bringing out my inner child wanting to play. My son however absolutely loved it, and it was hard... More

It is a small museum with only a few trains, but the history inside is very interesting. The staff was very nice and you could tell they enjoyed what they are doing. The model train room was very nice as well as all the other displays.

You have to be seriously obsessed with trains to have a good time. It's really boring. No hands on. Don't waste your time.

Being a native of the area, I am familiar with our Railroad history. The museum does a good job of explaining it to tourist, though I'm sure they could do more. My son has been in love with trains since he could crawl (he's 9 now) and even he is starting to get bored with the museum. The displays never... More

We arrived here and were a little misled by the signs that advertised $5.00 admission on weekends all month of December. To our shock, after having my grandson so excited to see a train, we ended up with close to $50 just for admission and that DOES include my 3 year old grandson. A nice model train display but it... I love small local museums! And the Wilmington Railroad museum doesn't disappoint. Great display of railroad history and memorabilia. It's obvious that the caretakers have a real passion for their subject. I learned a lot about train history and the history of standardized time in the U.S. (fascinating). You really get a feel for how pervasive trains were in shaping... More

Everyone will have a great time at this museum. From young to old. It is a wonderful place to view train set ups inside and for kids to climb aboard an old engine and let their imaginations run wild. There are always volunteers on duty to give information and helpful hints to visitors. Fun stop while in town.

The Wilmington Railroad Museum was on the other side of the parking lot of the Best Western I stayed at in Wilmington, so I had to take a look. It was interesting, exciting, and information. Anyone who loves the railroad and rail cars will enjoy and appreciate this museum. I believe there was a $12 entrance fee, but it goes... More
