This place is very small and is basically just a few train cars and a few informative placards. I would not waste anytime here unless you are a hardcore train enthusiast who wants to learn a little bit about the railroad history of the area.

I love trains. The museum offers an inside look the history of Atlantic Coast Line, which played a big part in Wilmington's history and economy. It also dives into the history of the rail across the USA. You can see train artifacts to the leaders of the train world. The kids will have a good time too as they have... More

The Wilmington Railroad Museum is deceptive at first glance. Passing by people do not comprehend how much history of the railways and replicas exist within. The functional locomotive in the yard is only the tip of the wealth of information found inside.

My grandson had an awesome time checking out all the displays and hands on areas throughout the museum. From train tables where kids can build their own train tracks to buttons to push to make attractions move! So much fun!

Unfortunately probably will not be back. Love the displays. One of the best layouts I have seen. The gift shop has a lot to offer which is why I made a special trip to town today. Unfortunately, the gentleman working had locked the doors early. With plenty of time left before closing hours I was told to come back another... More

The museum is relatively small. Easy to find. Some interesting memorabilia in two rooms. Some model trains in two rooms. Only two full size antique trains to "climb into." Relatively expensive for what you see.

I stopped in here because it was right beside our hotel and was a little curious. There is a full sized RR engine outside which is interesting to see up close. Inside there is the requisite junky gift shop and a tiny museum in the next room. There were some interesting items but I can't imagine how they do with... More

My son is still raving about the models. He said it was a good thing there were other people there or we would have never torn him away.

It was boys day out with my 7 year old son, so we went to the train museum. It was a interesting for me, seeing the town of Wilmington the way out wad in the past. The moving trains and model were bringing out my inner child wanting to play. My son however absolutely loved it, and it was hard... More

It is a small museum with only a few trains, but the history inside is very interesting. The staff was very nice and you could tell they enjoyed what they are doing. The model train room was very nice as well as all the other displays.
