Boardwalk at sunset and much more

The sunsets were magnificent! We took the water taxi to the USS North Carolina, ate dinner at Elijah's and enjoyed the boutiques along the riverfront.

We stayed at Carolina Beach State Park and wanted to kayak to Sharks Tooth Island (in Cape Fear River) but couldn't find a boat launch close to the island on any map. A local told us there was a small public park on River Rd that has a small boat launch. Found it! and it was very close to that... More

The Cape Fear River is a beautiful area. If you have the luxury of being on the water you will definitely enjoy your travels. You will get a nice mix of ecosystems and wildlife. River does not have a high amount of traffic. Picturesque downtown provides a nice spot up river to stop for some nice local cuisine or a... More

First off the river is much cooler (with breezes) this time of year. The Riverwalk is just a small portion of the Cape Fear River. Once you get under and past the Cape Fear bridge, the journey becomes quite interesting with the shipping docks and working areas. The river was dredged to 45 ' depths and a rice plantation actually... More

The river is beautiful and full of wildlife and never boring. Whether by boat or watching from shore, it is very impressive and strong!

Going to the river was great. Went on the river walk and just spent a lot of time there. Loved learning about the river and the wildlife in the downtown park. Definitely a lot of history and it makes downtown!!

The river is certainly an overlooked attraction. There are several tour boats that are pretty cheap that will give you a ride and a brief overview of the river and show you historic landmarks in the area. The snacks on the boat were good and the drinks were priced well. Great for families with young children.
