We rented a house right on the Cape Fear river and then ventured out every day from there to visit the surrounding area. We enjoyed being on the river and watching the water slide by, with the birds all around.

Cape Fear River is very interesting. The Battleship North Carolina is right there as well as other very interesting old cotton houses and historical building at or near the riverfront. Highly recommend it.

Not sure I get the draw. I've seen better rivers and bridges before. In fact, they could use a newer, bigger bridge to help with traffic.

Make your way downtown to the waterfront for the best sunsets in town. Walk along the boardwalk and snap some beautiful photos of the silhouetted bridges and the battleship. PS: This was also a location for the popular TV show One Tree Hill.

My family and I came here to watch the 4th of July Fireworks display. The fireworks started at 9:05p and we were there about an hour early and got some great front row seats. There's a beautiful sunset at Cape Fear River, which is right near some waterfront restaurants, great for family time or date night.

The sunsets were magnificent! We took the water taxi to the USS North Carolina, ate dinner at Elijah's and enjoyed the boutiques along the riverfront.

We stayed at Carolina Beach State Park and wanted to kayak to Sharks Tooth Island (in Cape Fear River) but couldn't find a boat launch close to the island on any map. A local told us there was a small public park on River Rd that has a small boat launch. Found it! and it was very close to that... More
