The newly enlarged hospital, complete with surgical and diagnostic facilities is awesome. To be able to see and hear about the actual patients they are caring for is a great experience. Lots to learn. It is phenomenal that the operation including the hatching and next analysis is carried out by an enthusiastic team of volunteers! For the hospital tour, be... More

My family and I are vacationing in Emerald Isle, NC. We had visited the Pine Knoll shores aquarium and enjoyed the sea turtle exhibit and We found the turtle hospital after a search for more local attractions. We drove over an hour to visit the hospital only to wait outside for a half hour and wait another 45 minutes to... More

My cousin and I were staying at a friend's beach house in N. Topsail Beach. We had been to the sea turtle hospital a few years ago at the old location on Topsail Island, so we were looking forward to seeing the new facility. I had printed out the web page a few weeks in advance from the hospital's website... More

My family had always visited the previous location and there was no charge, but you could donate. Which was the way we liked it.... and we would donate well. This time, they charged you at the door. I was not happy about the commercializing of the hospital... gift shop and all. The kids enjoyed getting to see the turtles, but... More

Don't miss this new facility! Loggerhead turtles, green sea turtles, and Kemp's Ridley sea turtles in need of vet care have friends at Karen Beasley Sea Turtle Rescue and Rehab center at its new location on Tortuga Lane in Surf City. This volunteer-run non-profit provides the care they need as well as an educational experience for the public and monitoring... More

The volunteers there are wonderful. They were knowledgeable and friendly. The turtles were easily seen and the facility was clean and comfortable.

The Turtle Hospital really fascinated the kids. You can really get a good close up look at these fascinating animals. What was most impressive here was the volunteers. Even though there was a good crowd they had volunteers every step of the way to provide a learning experience. It's great to see a place with supporters this committed and passionate... More

As all the reviews state, plan to wait in line. We arrived about 30 mins before they opened, which I recommend. Once the doors open, at noon, they make every point to get inside the air conditioned building. Inside you still have to wait a little while, but that part wasn't terrible. They had small exhibits & volunteers answering questions;... More

My wife and I spent a hour at their new location, They just opened the new location in June. They are still under a little bit of construction. Do not come here expecting it to be like a aquarium and have the turtles in exhibits. This is a hospital for the sick and injured sea turtles. We loved every bit... More

We were able to experience several "turtle" related things this week. The turtle hospital was a great place to see where all of the volunteers we met work with the turtles. Great and knowledgable staff. They tried hard to make heat more bearable (outside) while we waited. Great value also.
