I have loved seeing the Sea Turtle Hospital. I wish they were open longer during the year. We seem to hit the island when they are closed. However, when they are open, it's great to see the work that they are doing.

It's a neat experience for adults and children. Kids loved the turtles of all sizes, and the very personal explanations of the maladies and injuries of the turtles. There is very little shade and no water available if it's a scorching day with a long line, so be prepared. Better to hit it right when it opens.

Most Marines do not know about this gem so close to the base to take their kids. I would recommend ages 3 to 12. Very personal experience.

As others have mentioned, only open a few hours on certain days, likely closed to the public in the winter - but amazing for adults and kids alike. Great break from sand and sun!
