Wanted to take granddaughter ever since we started talking about going to surf city. We know it is closed on a Wednesday, so we decided to go on a Thursday. She fell asleep on the way there, however when we got there the line was way out the door. We decided to let her sleep and come back a little... More

Everyone in the family enjoyed it. They do a wonderful service and do a great job explaining how and why they do it. Friendly and knowledgable people to answer any questions and inform you of anything you would want to know.

What a great way to spend a cloudy afternoon. Lots of info about sea turtles and you get to see all the work that is being done to recue and rehabilitate thes turtles. A must see!

Let's get the negatives out of the way -- the lines are long and there is not an ounce of shade. There are no vending machines on site, so you need to bring your own water. Some people even brought umbrellas to cut the sun. We visited on a Friday around 1:00 p.m. and waited an hour and a half... More

Plan ahead and get there about 30 minutes early. It was a great learning experience for both the adults and children. The staff answered all of our questions and seemed excited to talk about their work. We will be back and the thought of supporting their cause was a bonus. It is not huge and will take 15 to 30... We all enjoyed listening to the stories about all the turtles but it was a long wait in line to get to the turtles. We waited in line for an hour and a half. The bad part of waiting in line was it was too hot. The hours are from 12 - 4. They need to have morning hours or... More

This is a new hospital for injured sea turtles, which nest on Topsail Beach. We have often seen their tracks in the early mornings, and knew not to bother the nests, but never realized what a tough world it is out there for these wonderful creatures. By the time we left, we had a much better understanding of how we... More

Visited June 2014. I arrived an hour early to avoid the long lines I had read about making be 2nd in line. By 11:20 or so at least 20 people already lining up. By the time the doors opened at noon probably 40 or more. They only allow 20 or so in at a time. There is no shade to... More

It was a long wait and very hot (recommend fans to keep air circulating while waiting in line) but it was cool to see the turtles and hear their stories. New location is on the mainland in Surf City.

We visited the new location with our 10 year old in tow. We arrived about 20 minutes after they opened. The line went fast and they had 3 informational stations before you entered the viewing line. We learned about the nests and exactly what the volunteers were doing that morning on the beach, protecting the nest the turtle made on... More
