Our family has tubed the New River numerous times, four times with Rivergirl, and several times with the outfitter that occupied the building previously. Rivergirl is a good outfitter with generally helpful, pleasant employees. However, the past two times we went tubing, the water was so low that we had to portage about two dozen times in two hours. I... More

Found this on Rails-ToTrails. If you are looking for a safer place to ride than the Parkway, try this 11 mile paved road. There are cars, but very few. The river is always at your side and the scenery is beautiful. I rented my bike from them and it was more than suitable. Very nice folks made the experience very... More

We have used River Girl for several Kayaking trips down the New River in Todd, NC. they do a great job. Had very low water levels last weekend (Labor Day 2015), which cannot be helped. I would recommend this trip for young children and large groups. You should definitely check on the water levels though, as we had a tough... More

Five friends and I went tubing on 9/6/15. The river level was low but the water was clear. My friends and I had a great time. The weather was gorgeous! Even getting hung up on the rocks was funny. We had to learn team work to get each of our group unstuck. LOL! The staff of RiverGirl Fishing Co are... More

My husband and I did the 3 hour river tubing trip. The staff was friendly and they had very nice tubes with headrests and cup holders. They rent water shoes, dry boxes and push sticks for $2.00. Definitely get the water shoes and the push sticks as the river is very rocky and very shallow in sports. It takes a... More

We were a group of 11. For several of my friends this was the first time they'd ever gone tubing. We had a blast! The water was shallow in places and we'd have to walk and/or push ourselves off the rocks but all in all everyone said they had a great time. One of my friends lost a Ziploc bag... More

We had a fabulous float on the New River. The river is shallow, but easy enough to float down in tubes or kayaks. This was a favorite activity of our 1 week trip to the area!

After reading some of the reviews what are these people expecting Disney? This is a locally owned company that employ locals, that take your money and put you in a old van or truck...haul you a few miles upstream, let you out....and you float or kayak down the river(shallow river) so be prepared for shallow spots...stay away from the loud... We failed to read the details of our Groupon and arrived without a reservation (don't do that - it's in the middle of nowhere). They didn't have room to shuttle us, but still let us go tubing and drove me back to the car at the start of the journey. They had lots of helpful things like water shoe rental... More
