I recently visited the Black Forest and several of their breweries and was excited to find this brewery in NC. It was a great visit, we had the flight of beer then had to take a jug of Nutty Gnome with us! Staff was friendly and helpful with our questions. Loved it and plan on returning.

The sign caught my eye as I drove by - I had to circle the downtown area to get back to this place AND IT WAS WORTH DRIVING AROUND TO GET THERE. Dieter was very friendly and showed me his operation as we discussed beer. I first ordered the sampler and was extremely impressed. This guy knows how to make... More

Service is friendly and the brews are delicious! Keep them in mind for your next visit! Selection is generous and store has easy-access parking in front on the "back street" of Sylva.

On our way back to Knoxville from Asheville we decided to make a stop and visit. I enjoyed talking beer with Dieter and his knowledge. He was quite friendly and eager for me to taste his beers. My wife loved the Birch beer and we will make the stop on the way to Asheville next year. I will buy a... More

This true micro brewery is all about the beer and the brewer. Dieter's warmth and love of his craft shine through in the flight tastings. Loved the Gopher Ale and the Rocktober seasonal. Sorry we missed Sheryl, as my wife has the same name spelled slightly different. A big plus was when our dog was invited in to the sitting... More

My husband and I visited the tap room one morning just after opening at 10am. The brew master, Dieter, was hard at work. We enjoyed a flight, and learned that the brewery should soon be moving a few miles down the road to Dillsboro for expansion. The beer was clean and crisp. We plan to visit on our next trip... More

My husband is a beer lover and we tracked this place down thinking we were finding a restaurant and pub. A small hole in the wall - this is just a tasting place and you can buy grogs. Although the place has been there 15 years it looked very uninvited and very unkept. The sampler was only 7.00 and he... More

Seniortravelors, Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts and seeking our brewery out. We do our best to make sure people understand we are not a pub or restaurant. We are a working microbrewery and therefore have beat up floors due to the kegs that are constantly moved around in our brewery and many times you will... More

On a recent road trip which took us from PA to SC and back we made a stop in Sylva NC at Heinzelmaennchen. Dieter made us feel very welcome as we all tried every offering he had available. All very drinkable beers and the next batch was boiling in the next room releasing that wonderful smell of boiling wort. Even... More

Get off the beaten path...out of the traffic of Asheville (my home) with all it's tons of craft breweries, and head to quiet and lovely Sylva NC and Heinzelmannchen Brewery. Our Porsche Club took the road less traveled, via the BRP, and gathered here for a beer tasting. The owners, Dieter and Sheryl, are informative, fun and talented. Dieter truly... More
